10 min Auto Power Off GlobalSat BT-338

Is there a way to disable this function? With 15 hours of battery life I just want to leave the GPS on.

Sadly not, there is a new version of the firmware due in the summer which will allow it to be turned off, but as the unit isn't upgradeable then if you already have your GPS you're "stuck with it"

LONG but interesting thread (including a rep from GLobalsat) here:

woah - i just received mine in the mail today - and i pretty much just tried it out on my trip to the train station parking garage (about 5 minutes) - are you saying that even when the unit is synced up (connected) to another device it STILL shuts off after 10 minutes?

that seems like its going to turn into a real pain in the butt on long road trips - if im on the road for 5 hours i dont want to have to keep turning that thing back on a zillion times...

The timeout period starts when the BT338 stops sensing a bluetooth pairing. As long as the BT338 is paired with another device, it will remain on as long as the battery will allow.
