Temperature effect on bt-gps unit?

Hello,

I just ordered the BT-338. Noticed the max temp range is 60 C (140 F). Is this ambient temp or contact temp? I am concerned that the dashboard of the vehicle can certainly reach this temp in SE USA summers. Should I set the BT receiver on a pad of some type on the dash?

I would try to protect it from direct contact with the dashboard to avoid that source of heat.

This is what mine says in the manual. All BT GPS unit should state what their operating temperature is in their specific manual. Check your manual. This is what is listed for mine.

Operating Temperature Range
==> -30 Celsius to +60 Celsius == Powered from external supply
==> -10 Celsius to +60 Celsius == Powered from internal batteries

Battery Charging Temperature Range
==> +5 Celsius to +45 Celsius (outside this temperature range, battery charging is not possible)

Storage Temperature
==> -40 Celsius to +90 Celsius

Hope that helps.
