Well - it was delivered yesterday and seems to work really well. Needed to make sure the windscreen was totally clean so that the sucker would suck. Just used a rag and some white wine vinegar - cleans like nothing else!
The magnet on the holder is bloody strong, but doesn't hold the Axim or my C500 phone at all. However - there is a sticky metal plate that you can stick to your device....but a word of warning:
The sticky isn't very sticky and the magnet is very strong, so it tends to pull the metal plate off of whatever it's stuck to.
Secondly - the magnet is so strong that if you put the plate onto the battery cover of the X50v it will pull the battery cover off when you try and remove the Axim from the holder.
Both solved - the metal plate supplied was exactly the same size as the rectangular area above the battery plate on the back of the Axim and a bit of super-glue has stuck the plate on nicely - it's even a black finish so it's not visable on the back of the Axim.
Like all goose-neck holders it suffers from movement and shaking on rougher ground (most UK roads!) so careful bending of the neck made the Axim rest on the top of the dashboard and a small dab of BluTak stops it moving around.
All in all, an excellent solution for just over £11 delivered!
PS....the magnet doesn't seem to have any effect at all on the operation of the Axim itself.
