Garmin city select north america v6????????

Can I install and use the above software to my axim x5? I would be using this with the pharos pk038 gps. Please if any one can advise asap I would appreciate it.

You have to have Garmin's Que software installed on you PDA to use these maps. I have a Garmin GPS10 Delux and it comes with three software apps in addition to V6 City Select. Que software for navigating on the handheld, nRoute software for navigation using a PC/laptop, Mapsource software for creating custom map sets from the City Select map data on your PC to download to your handheld and v6 City Select Map data. I may be mistaken, but I believe V6 City Select is of no use without at least the Que software or the nRoute software.

I'm not sure how that would work without some sort of emulator to convert NMEA to Garmin protocol for use with Garmin maps. I use the Garmin GPS device as it supports both NMEA and Garmin protocol. You need to check and research more at GPS web sites i.e. www.gpspassion.com to see if this is doable, unless someone knows here.

I have the gamin ique 3600 and all the software that comes with it. If I installed that on my axim x5 would it work?

That I'm not sure. Your iQue 3600 is a Palm device with an integrated GPS unit. My GPS10 device comes with software that clearly indicates it is for a PPC and laptop. You'll need to check your documentation that came with your hardware, or call a Garmin rep.

Just to confirm if anyone is curious you cannot use the city select software on the axim without the Garmin 10. I spoke with a rep today and that is the only way they state it will work.

There is also the Garmin cfQue 1620 GPS device. Its a compact flash GPS device made for PocketPC. The software is also City Select. It can be used with the Axim 5 since Axim 5 has a CF slot.
