OCN4 no longer detecting satellites from my BT-338...

well - ive had the bt-338 + ocn4 combo for a few months now and have raved about it - the maps have always been accurate and its been a joy to use...

just a few days ago, however, i went on a trip up north and brought along the combo - all of the sudden, when i open up ocn4, the satellite is just flat red (where i used to get 5-7 satellites - right in the heart of chicago)

i went through the whole set up and nothing has changed - still com port 7 - still set at "standard gps" - the gps unit has the green blinking green light next to the satellite (indicating a lock on the sats) and a blinking blue light indicating bt connectivity

on the pda end - bt manager shows a connection with the gps unit - and the "gps information" software that came with the unit is gathering information from it...

im at a loss - how can one program connect to it without problems and the other one can't get a lock on any satellites? especially after i havent had any problems at all!

help me please!

Only one program at a time can use the GPS signals. Have you stopped the GPS information program completely? Remember, the X in the corner only pushes it into the background, doesn't stop it.

yeah - i actually only installed the gps information software to see if my axim is recognizing the gps receiver at all - ive soft reset this thing about a zillion times since the problem started happening...

im gonna try reinstalling everything from scratch now (ocn4 on both my computer and ppc to see what happens) - this will be my third time doing this...

You might try removing the batteries from the gps unit for a few minutes which should reset its memory. Assuming of course that you can remove the batteries, don't have this particular unit.

well - i just finished up the reinstallation and that seems to have taken care of it - i dont get it - the ONLY change i made to my axim was adding on another map to ocn4 but i dont see how this would all of the sudden make the gps unit invisible (this took up about 130mb out of over 700 available on my cf card)...

im just hoping this doesnt happen again in a few weeks when im in canada...
