Real Time Traffic
Hi - I have the Dell Axim X50 with the GPS software.
I was wondering if there is any service or software that can provide me with real time traffic for Toronto, Ontario, CANADA?
The GPS Navteq software is good, but it always is trying to get me to take Highway 401 and it is always a joke.
Thanks !
Ty

real time traffic? I don't think that would be possible unless you connected online and browsed a local traffic website. GPS would not have anything to do with traffic, unless you want to set a route without taking the highway. If so, there is an option in the GPS software to exclude highways.

I don't think the real-time traffic interface with GPS is available in US or Canada. Its available in UK as a paid-service.

Copilot Live has traffic reporting, but there are no Canadian maps.

Research Alturon. I don't know what areas they cover, but they sell nav software that uses a GPS receiver that has TMC/RDS built into it so real time traffic without using your phone.

XM Satellite Radio has such a feature.

Unfortanately, it only works in a few products, none of them are PPCs. Also, its an extra subscription fee.

Ostia by Pharoahs
Yes Ostia by Paharoahs has real time traffic through their Smart Navigator monthly subscription service.
It is not the greatest GPS package with lots of limitations but it does have traffic, you need to have GPRS/Edge/CDMA internet connection to work.

Hey, what are your thoughts on Pocket Breeze and your compact flash card? I think I'd like to update the weather every time on browse with the X51v.
Cheers!
