Did a search here and on gpspassion.com and did not find much info. I was curious as to whether anyone has created alternative voice file sets for iGuidance -- similar to what you can find for Mapopolis? The stock iGuidance voice is nice, but I like a change every now and then. :approve:
It's a start. Let me know if you like it. Next experiment will be to record new voice files. Crystal's voice is not as "natural" as the original iGuidance voice, but the files take up a little less space (2.26mb vs. 2.53mb).
:approve: Just drove around town a little while ago after replacing the voice files and I must say the new Crystal voices are much more human sounding than those in IGuidance.....

This is cool. I think there are three files missing in Crystal. Alarm1, Alarm2, and Mvr. I just copied them from my iGuidance file to use.
Yes. I did not include the alarm files since they are just sounds (alarm beeps) rather than voice prompts. I just left the original 3 alarm sounds in my snd directory. Of course, you could replace these with any other wav file sound you prefer, if you don't like the originals.

That's interesting, since Crystal is completely synthesized. For anyone who wants to play around with it, I used the TTS Interactive Demo at AT&T Labs to build the Crystal wav files. It's very easy to create a downloadable file for anything text you want. Plus, you can choose from any of 13 voices -- 5 Anerican English, 2 British English, 2 Spanish, 2 German, and 2 French.
