Dell GPS NAV & IGuidance 2.1.1 Differences Explained
For those that are interested in differences between Dell GPS Nav(May 2005) & Iguidance 2.1.1:
1)IG includes both PPC & Laptop versions. Dell includes PCC only
2)Dell Limits map loading to 512mb.
3)IG includes Destination search by Coordinates
4)IG includes 4 Color Schemes, Dell only one
5)IG has weather page lookup
6)IG has enhanced 3d view with streets going out to horizon and POI names are visable when zoom is at greater than 200 ft.
Dell is charging $99 for update to existing users, as you clearly see you get more from your money from purchasing IG over upgrading to Dell New Release. Not to mention the support that IG has given to its customers in terms of free updates and upgrades that Dell has not given. Both IG 2.1.1 & Dell new release, the contact integration feature is broken. IG is aware of issue and has stated that within next wek or so they will have patch available to fix. With Dell, it is anybody's guess to when or how they are going to patch update this newest release.
Also if you are in the market to buy a First time kit, my recommendation is to stay away form the Dell Bundle unless you have some super great concession coupon. The Dell Kit includes a rebranded GlobalSat 309 receiver( Sirf 2 design with non replaceable battery). With all the new Sirf 3 receivers available now, this receiver should be found at street prices at under $100.
