IOGEAR Newbie

I just joined the ranks of the GPS enabled and I must say I am tickled pink. I bought the IOGEAR GBGPS201 and its ease of use and set up have me wishing I had done it sooner.
Can't wait for my next long road trip ....and I like that I can run it on my laptop or X50V......

Had any problems with it? My PDA slows down a ton after a power down and turning back on. I have to do soft resets constantly.

I have not had any performance issues with it but I do have to soft reset to get GPS and Bluetooth to talk to each other. Its actually been a pretty good set up other than that. I just took a trip to Georgia from SC and had no issues with it at all. I pluged in my destination in Georgia and took off. Coming back was equaly problem free. The soft reset is a pain but I can live with it.
I did contact Iogear about updated maps and the price was goign to be $99. I think that is pretty steep.
I also have access to the Tom Tom software and installed it but I was never able to get my GPS reciever to connect so I ununstalled it. Tom Tom was quite a memory hog so it is no loss but the voices were better on TT I think.

Are you using WM2003 or 2005? 2005 supposedly has issues with the v2.1 of IOGear's iGuidance. I am trying to find out if they have an update, but it doesn't lookl like they do.

iGuidance has fixed the issues with WM2005 in their version 2.1.3. I think I'll have to fork out another hundred bucks and try their software.

I am runing 2003. I have never had the guts nor the desire to upgrade to 2005. I have the disk but my attitude is why mess with a good thing. When it gets to the point I can't run somthing new and unique that I absolutley can not live with out then I will take the plunge, well maybe I will.
