iGuidance in True VGA mode

Hello. I purchased iGuidance 2.l.2 a few days ago, and run it in True VGA mode on a Dell X50v. I am surprised (after reading forum postings to the contrary) that it seems to have trouble in True VGA mode, including:

* In "Guidance mode" (the display mode that it switches to during the last 1000 ft before a turn), the bottom half of the map is totally blacked out.
* The 3D modes do not work. They look somewhat 3D, but the position is wrong - drifting off the road to one side or the other by hundreds of feet. I know this is not a GPS error because 2D mode looks fine.
* All the menu and option screens are crammed into the upper left 1/4 of the screen.
* Buttons and current speed indicator are too small.

Is anyone else having success running iGuidance in true VGA mode?

VGA mode works just fine when your not using hacks like OZVGA or SEVGA. It is a VGA program and loads in TRUE vga without using the above. I'd suggest switching off OZVGA (or SEVGA) before running Iguidance.

Hmmm. But, I use True VGA for everything else, and switching forces a soft reset. I don't want to soft reset every time I use iGuidance. I wonder if there is not some way to get it to work correctly while in True VGA mode?

Iguidance installs 2 executables, one for VGA and one for QVGA. When you start the program, it determines whether to use VGA or not. I don't use True VGA, but if you start the IGVGA version it should look OK. Then, simply delete the other executable and point the shortcut to that file.

Ivan, I tried both executables. When in True VGA mode, you have to use iGuidanceQVGA.exe for it to work at all. It "mostly" works, except for the problems I described in my first post. If you use iGuidanceVGA.exe while in True VGA mode, then all the buttons are large but in the wrong place, and they overlap badly, and some you can't even click on. It is completely unusable like that. It is clear that iGuidanceVGA.exe was designed for the pseudo-VGA mode (SE_VGA).

Thanks for the update. I don't run true VGA, but remembered reading about this. Sorry it didn't work. It does work very nicly in native mode. I'm hoping this won't be a problem with WM2005.

Hello,

new2axim, I have opened a problem ticket with iNav about this issue. They have been very polite and responsive. So far, however, they say they have not observed these problems in their testing Dell devices. I am going to send them some screen shots. I will keep you all informed.
