SirF convertion to NMEA (Help)
I talked to the OnCourseNavigator support and they said I could easily convert to NMEA, and I was wondering how you did that.
I have the Asus BT100 that uses SiRF StarIIe/LP chip and I recently bought your On Course Navigator 5. I also have it sucessfully installed the software on my Dell Axim x50v. I was wondering how I can make my GPS Reciever compatible with your software.
I want it to work!! AHHHH
Thanks

Did you do something to set it to SIRF? Then just undo whatever that was. I think it natively comes configured for NMEA interface. The fact it is a Sirf chip is relatively unimportant because all the vendors now recognize that NMEA is THE standard that software expects. Make sure you have the right com port and baud rates set in OCN5. Pair the receiver and Axim in BT manager, then set OCN to COM7, 4800 baud, or let it find the automatically.

yea I know that NMEA is considered the standard that's why I'm trying to convert the SiRf Receiver, but I don' tknow how, because when OCN5 detects it and get it had Com7 with Baud of 4800 it shows this satillite icon receiving red waves... so it still doesn't work. I need something to convert the data received by the receiver to NMEA.

You don't "convert" the data to NMEA, it's provided by the GPS receiver, you'll need to set the Asus to provide the NMEA data.

The default on most receivers is NMEA, if you have BT on your pc, you can use SirfDemo to access it and do a factory reset. There's also programs available for the ppc that will do the same thing.

The red waves means it's communicating with the receiver, but the receiver doesn't have a fix. Just wait. It should turn green when it gets a fix. You are doing this outside, with a clear view of the sky, right? You'll need that to ever get it to turn green.
