Question GPS adapters

I just bought from Semson the haicom adapter (http://www.semsons.com/oppdacabforh.html) that connects my X50 to a Garmin eTrex legend (borrowed). I really want to use the setup with a Lowarance iFinder gps.

The haicom adpater looks like it uses a ps/2 plug to connect to the Garmin unit. The ifinder offers nmea output through a usb plug. Could it be as simple as using a ps/2 to usb adapter (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...0387&CatId=469) to connect my x50 with the haicom/semson setup to the iFinder?

What are possible obstacles that I should be on the lookout for? Could there be drivers needed? Electrical issues?

No it won't work, the Garmin is RS232 which can interface to the ax. A USB connection works in a different way and at different voltage levels, the ax doesn't have the same type of USB interface as a PC has.

PC USB = intelligent, master, call it what you will
AX USB = dumb needs an intelligent device to connect to
GPS USB = dumb needs an intelligent device to connect to

Quite correct, although they are called "Host" and "Device" or "Peripheral."

I know, but it I don't think it conveys the concept very well for someone asking this sort of question. Thanks for adding the proper descriptions anyway, I should really have remembered to do it :)
