similar to his idea, but is there a way to either record for your own referrence, or record and send into the place that does the maps that the various programs so that they can get a correction on a road? Somehow none of the programs (tried 5 so far) and none have the distance or locations for my parents house. it seems once i get into that county, that the GPS program goes crazy thinking i'm offroad, and then says their turn off is about 1/2 a mile away from where it really is.

This is the iQue software for the PPC. The iQue s/w between Palm and PPC should be similar, except that the PPC version is updated with some extra features.

The settings on iQue PPC is located under:

System Setup/Routing TAB/ and you will see a "Customize..." button. Clicking on this button provides the settings to customize your route habits.

I'm assuming that iQue3600 should have the same unless its older and missing this feature that is in the PPC version.

Cheers.

Ok, I found a reference in the iQue M5 manual where it can learn your preferences for roads based on your travels, but that is not the same as the OP asked:

Like, none of the TTN5.1 routes are what I actually go through, so is there an option to have the GPS program sort of record where I am going as I am driving and use those directions as my favorite?

I know you can edit routes they calculate, but it's harder doing it that way.
The learned preferences change how it routes, to be sure, and eventually the settings will agree with your most common choices, but it still doesn't let you use a route you have already driven for the next trip, unless that previous trip establishes new priorities that would end up with that preferred route being calculated. It's still not using your previously recorded route. I, too, would like to see this "use previous track" kind of functionality. One particularly useful area for this kind of function is in those areas where there is a persistant detour due to construction that isn't on the map database. Just drive around the detour and then re-route with that same data. That would be nice.

The GPS10, there is an option to switch on tracking. Its a routing feature and is recordable. It is in under Menu/Utilities/Track Log, in the iQue software. Essentially, if your family lives in the boonies (meaning no disrespect here), and you have to take a unique route that no mapping software really can help you as they either do not show the gravel/unpaved road because their maps are not up-to-date, you can enable the track log and it logs your tracks. I believe you can save up to only 25 tracks. I am not sure how long/much each track can store.

Essentially it records/saves the tracks you take from the time you enable/record the "track log" till you stop it. Then you replay it when you want to go to your family's remote place again.

Cheers.

The recording feature for "Track Log" above is not to be mistaken with the "Saved Routes" feature that is also in the iQue software. The "Saved Routes" is essentially where the mapping software maps out a route and saves it for you to re-use again.

The "Track Log" feature is essentially a track your current GPS location over a map/terrain so that you can follow/retrace your tracks if you need to use it again.

For this, I would use the Tracking Log ability to record my "tracks" as it were, and re-use/re-run the "Track Log" route again whenever I needed to use it.

I only use this feature for off-road terrain where I am driving to a family's cottage located off the beaten track.

Also, I can offload this data onto my PC and show it on MapSource software so I can see on the PC the route I took.

That's the closest to what you're asking for, I think.

Another thing I forgot to mention, most mapping program should allow you to change your map setup. In the GPS10 iQue software, you can choose to have the map show your location on;
a) on roads
b) at GPS location

If you find you mapping s/w going crazy when you are off-road, switch to "at GPS location" and it should show on the map wherever you are. I don't have this issue on iQue. When I take a road that does not show on my Garmin mapping program, it just shows me my current location (i.e. off-road). I do not have to use the setting above. The only time I used it was when I was going GPS geocaching.

Cheers.

You can save tracks in Mapopolis, too, and if you want to, you can drive over the same track next time. However, it doesn't provide active routing to follow the track, which is what I think storino03 was looking for. Does the GPS10 software provide guidance over those recorded tracks?

No, there is no voice guidance provided. It is displayed on the background map when you choose the track log and select "saved track details". It would be nice if they could do that. It does not work the way a route does. But its sufficient for my needs.
