I ordered a 256m SD card from Amazon for $93.99 (98.99-$5 coupon). Then I found a $30 rebate form on pcmall. So after all is said and done that puppy will be mine for $63.99. :)

Cheryl,
Pardon me being naive, but are they going to accept rebate coupon for PCMall with a receipt from Amazon???

Yeah,
That rebate you are trying to use is specifically for purchases made at PcMall and eCost. It clearly says it on the rebate.
Here's my question. The Dell site originally states that the Axim's have a SD/MMC slot. But my manual only states SD. I've noticed that some MMC cards are a lot cheaper than SD. If I buy a MMC card, will it still work? I don't want to use my compact flash slot for memory...because I eventually want to add wi-fi.

The Axim certainly does accept Multimedia format cards. They fit into the SD slot. (SD cards, however, do not fit in devices' Multimedia slots)
The Multimedia format will, some believe, be gracefully faded out in the near future, and eventually will be replaced by SD and the continuation of CF cards. Sure you can pick them up cheaper, but they lack the security features and of course are based on a somewhat older technology, but hey, look at what your needs are right? For some music, photos etc... probably not the biggest issue to worry about. Preferences of saving a few dollars I suppose. Any other opinions?

MMC cards work swell in the Axim, but it shows up on the menus as an SD card.
It's hard to imagine paying more for that little postage-stamp-sized card (512 Mb) than for the whole PDA.
Holding it in your hand, there is little perceived value.

I heard that MMC is based on a 1-bit bus. SD is based on a 4-bit I believe. In fact I heard that although many PDA's are being marketed with SD slots that they in fact still only have a 1-bit bus from the processor to the card. I'm trying to find out if this is the case for the Axim. I wanted to buy an SD card instead of a CF too in order to keep my CF slot for WiFi. However if the buss is only 1-bit I may buy a SD afterall....
Anyone clarify this?
Here's a quote I found....
"The SDIO specifications allow for either 1 bit (SD Narrow) or 4 bit (SD Wide) bus and a clock rate of 20 mhz or 25 mhz."
What does the Axim have?
Thanks,
Matt

That link for some reason brings up a shopping cart full of stuff, so here's a Direct Link to the product.
I also noticed this 128MB Compact Flash card for $39.95
