Function-wise, there's not much difference. I believe SD memory is a bit faster, though I suspect the difference you'd see would be negligible. However, as far as your Axim is concerned, there's a big difference. The SD slot can only be used for memory, while the CF slot can be used for memory and peripherals (wireless modem cards, things of that nature). I think most people here are getting SD cards to expand available memory and keeping the CF slot free for large CF memory cards to store media (movies, music) and to use with wireless cards.
