x30 Rhinoskin case for $9.95, free ship at $15
http://www.saunders-usa.com/rhinoskin/?brand=34&model=194

Dell Axim X3/X30 Aluminum HardCase
$34.95 - 72% off instantly = $9.95
This holiday season we're offering FREE UPS Ground shipping for all orders exceeding $15.00. Qualifying orders must be shipped within in the contiguous United States and Canada.

Thank you. We appreciate your business.
If you ever wanted to try out an aluminum case for your x30, now is the time to order. Heck, if you wanted to see how much abuse a rhinoskin case takes (by banging it with a hammer, etc), you can do so (you don't need your device in the case to determine how durable these things are... heck, you don't even need to own an x30). Eitherways, this case is pretty darn cheap and won't be available ever again (once it sells out, that is).

My case is on the way, and I shall see what this aluminum thing is all about soon. :)

No one should buy this case b/c it adds too much wieght and bulk. Plus if you drop it while your using your pda it will hardly protect it. Go with the Silicon skin covers instead. my $.02

I would, except the silicon covers kinda lack any screen protection what-so-ever!!

Besides, I pointed this out because it is a good deal.

I have an aluminum case. I like the feel of it. I also like its superior protection. Leather looks good, but aluminum protects.

I have a Rhinoskin for my 2215 and my X50V. I find that it adds very little bulk. It provides great protection, also. It's just a matter of personal preference.

I too have a Rhinoskin for my x50v and absolutely love it. If I still had my x30h, I would be all over this. Thanks for the heads up!

You really won't regret it. Especially at that price. You can't go wrong.

Since this started as a "NOOOO, don't buy an aluminum case!!" thing, I decided to share why I am getting this with everybody else... :)

I have an extended battery with my x30 and a Piel Frama case. However, while I do like my Axim, I noticed two things while using it : I can manage with the standard battery just fine, I don't really drain it all that much when using my Axim : I REALLY love how small and thin the x30 is... but that is hidden by the extended battery plus the leather case which just puffs out the already larger dimensions of the x30 plus extended battery.

Thus, I hunt for a case. Leather cases are pretty much out this time around because they tend to have a bit of puffyness to them, and I am looking for a really slim case.

Boxwave has silicon cases, but they are instantly out because of no screen protection. I carry my cases on a belt clip and in general the x30 is a trooper. It has dropped onto concrete from a height of 5 feet and hasn't ever complained (ok, it is missing a bit of paint... :)). The only thing that is delicate on my device is the SCREEN. A screen partially composed of glass facing away from me while attached on a belt clip is just ASKING for disaster when somebody runs into me. So, in short, NO, I won't go with a silicon case.

Now, of course, the x50 silicon cases have a plastic cover for the screen... go figure... :azz:

Anyways, I looked at reviews for aluminum cases. Yes, they are pretty light and they are pretty darn durable. Importantly, they protect the screen. If something hits you hard enough to warp the front of your case enough to destroy your screen then (A) That probibally hurt... a lot... and (B) think about getting an outterbox.

Mobile Tech Review has a review of Axim x30 cases, including this one, here.
http://www.mobiletechreview.com/tips/Dell_Axim_X3_cases.htm

Here is a review of an Aluminum case (not rhinoskin). Note that the thickness of the case is about the same as the thickness of the grey cover of your x30 when you are looking at it from the top. (next to last photo)
http://www.aximsite.com/articles/link.php?id=220

I knew a person who owned a rhinoskin and they only had one complaint (which I will be wary of). The flip cover usually FLIPS OPEN when the device falls... screen protection? Irregardless, I am more worried about my screen shattering when I run into things, so I don't think this will be a problem for me. Hopefully it is something that was fixed in later case revisions...

Lastly, I also was looking for a clear plastic case for my x30, but no such thing exists for the x30 (once again, if you have an x50, then you have more options).

In general, I researched this, I wanted an aluminum case, and I was dragging my feet to get one. :) However, this sale hooked me and my case should be here in a few days.

I know, I'm ranting... but, I figured that I should give my 2 cents. :)
