X51V price point info for newbie
OK. I'm finally going to make the move from the dark side (Palm) into the light. I've just made the decision to take the plunge. I can't imagine I could get a $250 Axim as I saw in the recent long thread but the best street price I see is for about $370. I know Dell cranks out coupons occasionally and I found the useful thread pointing to good coupon sites...but what is a "reasonable" price point for this very slick device? Many thanks!

Take a look at the $250 thread. I just placed an order yesterday for the x51v with 2yr warranty and 2nd battery for $268 + tax ($289 out the door).

Thanks for the tip Lionclaw! Just gave them a call and they could not match the $268 price. Best they could do was $364 and not sure that was with all the 2yrs and extra battery. Guess I'll have to try again tomorrow.

I just purchased an X51V on Wednesday 1-03-06. I don't know how these guys got $268. I think they talk a CS technician to match an individuals deal. This type of deal should be marked YMMV. From what I read, Dell CS caught on to this ploy and now refuses to pricematch (which is their right). I have seen others post that they bought theirs for less that $210. This got me curious so I tried to search for deals at fatwallet.com. And I saw where the low res versions were cheaper a while back, but thats not the model I wanted or you either. So take the thread crappers comments with a grain of salt. Many of them just like to tell you what a good deal they got. But the comparisons of their deal are rarely mentioned. Off of the top of my head I think i remember a while back that you could get the X51V with 2 batteries and 2 year warranty and it was in the low 300s. My deal I pulled off on wednesday wasn't that good. My total out of pocket cost was just under $296 for the X51v with only one battery, one year warranty, shipping, cradle, and an extra charge/sync cable. I used the codes listed in a post above (and posted on fatwallet) and I bought a $45 coupon off ebay for $4. MSRP for my package would have been $537. I got a $241 discount. That is 44.8% off. I don't see why some folks need to come accross as snobs and squelch a deal like this.

I think that a good number to watch for is $275 for the base unit like mine. Then when you add shipping, and coupon cost its a little bit more. This seems like a very good deal to me. ITs just not the lowest price in the history of the site.

Depending on accessories and warranty, no more than $300 delivered.

Sub-$300 deals are common enough, if you have patience. Never pay over $325.

Yeah. Wait for another good coupon deal to come around. It's bound to happen eventually. Good luck!

Yeah i really don't know how these people get these deals! we bought 3 Axims for $369CAD (UP IN CANADA) they came out to like 430 or something shipped with 1yr, battery, charger, etc. and i just called in about two weeks ago to ask them to match it for an order of another 2 and they completely refused... needless to say i was ticked and didn't place an order... but i donno how these people get all these accessories and everything for under 300US which like 360-70CAD now!

If you call dell before the current discount code ends, I believe they will still let you purchase an Axim at the reduced price. I have heard of a few people getting the discount even after the coupon has been used up.

Right now you can get an x51v with the extra battery and two year warranty for $313.

Do a search for "Dell coupon" and you can find a 20% stackable coupon (I'd link, but I think the rules prohibit that). Combine that with the current deals on the loaded x51v, and one of the holiday $45 off of $400 codes (you can get them on eBay), and you're looking at $313 + tax/shipping.

The coupons stack, I checked in case my wife wanted one.

Can you please go into a little more detail on this $313. My Axim comes in tomorrow. I got in on the 25% deal last week as opposed to the 20% deal now. I used the $45 coupon stacked on it. When I tried that combination the cart price was in the $350 range. Now you are coming in much lower with a smaller discount percentage. Please explain.

There's a stackable coupon that was available yesterday that works WITH the 25% off discount on the bundle (the one on the Dell site that includes the warranty and 2nd battery).

They combine, so you get 20% off of the remainder after the initial 25% off.

And the holiday coupons stack with those.

Unfortunately, I already received mine, so I think I'm SOL :(

I paid $384 (including tax) for my X51 mid, 1 year, no extra battery, cradle but no travel sync charger, belkin leather case, and SanDisk 512 MB CF card. At the time, I thought this was a good deal but now I'm not so sure. I just got the X51 mid and it seems people are getting the X51v for cheaper. I think it just really depends on when you hit the site and what kind of deals. The deals I got were up to 25% off (I just got 20% because I wasn't buying an X51v) and a $25 coupon that I had from a previous order. I also had a $20 holiday coupon, but I could't use both the $20 and the $25 coupons at the same time. Anyway, I just really think it depends on when you order it and how diligent you are in searching out coupons. Good luck!
