It looks like Dell has changed the web site. This morning, the basic x51v was $499 with 20% off instantly. Models with extended warranty and extra battery had 25% off instantly.
It appears Dell has removed the 20% off instantly for the basic x51v. The 25% off instantly is still in play for the models with accessories.
I went for the x51v with the 2 year warranty and extra battery for $313 before tax and $8 shipping.

Hold on there - on the Home and EPP site, as of today, there is no default discount for the 1 year warrantee. So applying the coupon code gives 20% and only 20%. How did you get the additional 20%? Perhaps you beat the clock with an order prior to 8am CST to apply yesterday's default 20% discount????

it was an automatic 20% off the $499 model for several hours this morning, many people on slickdeals.net bought one. dell appears to have now changed the pricing on that unit. it's actually more expensive to buy the unit with a 1 year warranty than it is to buy the one with a 2 year warranty and extra battery. still, if you choose that unit instead and apply a $45 off $400, it's not a bad deal.

Thank you!
I've been lurking this site for quite awhile hoping to score in on a deal and finally count myself among the proud owners of an Axim x51v...
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU it worked, also scored a $45 off 400 on fleabay!
Note: For those of you buying it now, notice how the Deal of the Week is CHEAPER than buying the simple unit alone? Grab deal of the week while you can folks :approve:
I hope to be able to contribute more now that I will actually own one of these things!

I picked up a $45 off $400 coupon on ebay and got the same deal as AJM. It came to $342 after tax & S/H. Not as good as previous deals, but tired of waiting

I was able to score the auto 20% off this morning on the basic x51v model at 10:30 am CST. So they removed the auto discount sometime after that. I too have been looking for a deal over the past month to purchase as a gift. Finally got a coupon in before all the E-bayers made their purchases for resale. Total came out to $282.36.
Thanks robr for posting these a day early so we could get the jump on the E-bayers!

Hat tip for robr! I used the 25% on 2 year warr. plus your code for the additional 20%. I knew the previous night that I should be ready for the purchase at 8 am CST, but I spent late hours browsing aximsite, so I missed the 20%/1 year option. But still an excellent opportunity you have provided.
I hereby donate my 1% to robr!

January 7 '06 - For those who missed it on 01/05/06, Dell has another 25% autodiscount the the ax/battery/2yr warrantee package. Then add a 20% discount with the following code: 08R0LNWBJ3SBF2 (2000 uses) and the net price is 358.20 with $8 shipping. Then go to ebay and buy one of those coupons. I bought a $45 coupon off of Ebay for $3.77 (item # 6593608380).
After all is said and done, my x51v with an extra 2200 battery, bluetooth exec kb, Pacific Design leather case, and 2 yr warr ended up costing me $460.20 plus $16.00 shipping.
A Great deal. I am jazzed.

I looked at this, but went the base model route. The base package with the same discounts/coupons works out to $292 shipped or $296 if you count the cost of ebay coupon. That means you pay ~$62 for the extra year of warranty and second battery. You can buy a bettery extender that will last 3x longer than the second battery for $10-20 and uses NiMH batteries you should already have (I do). Oh buy the way my $296 package included an extra travel cable. Although If I had to do it again, I would skip that cable and buy the Belkin 3-in-1 travel package for Axim. It is mentioned in the sticky post under accessories at this site (great thread, but long now at 8 pages). This would have added $20 net to my cost, have given me the USB cable, car charger and travel wall charger. Just MHO for what its worth .

Good going. :approve: I didn't have the brain cells in me at 2 am to figure that all out. What I saw was by getting the base, the first autodiscout was 0%. By getting the package, the autodiscount was 25% so the package ended up being cheaper than the base. I might have been pressing the wrong button or something, but I think this recent anomaly has already been reported here, so I am not alone in encountering this.

Half Decaf,
I was confused the first time on the Dell site too. It steered me to the same package as you. When I finished my shopping cart I was still ~50 bucks higher than the deal I read about in the thread at FatWallet. That is when I went back and saw there was a more basic package. I don't think is was a bad deal at all. I just couldn't convince myself that I would want a second small 1100 mah battery. I could see buying a single 2200 mah though, but that is not an option. Also I already have a battery extender for my old PPC that I thought I could use. Now after reading more, I know that I will need a more powerful extender. However, I have 2400 mah NiMH AA batteries, so an extender will work realy well on the road and be fairly cheap to buy or build. If I had more first hand knowlege I would have done a better job of evaluation. BUt as you know when these deals are active, you move or you lose. I couldn't hesitate for a few days to work out the "perfect" package. Heck the deal was dead 4 hours after I completed my purchase.
