PNY 2GB SD $49.99 AR + tax/shipping
http://shop2.outpost.com/product/4755929?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
A PNY 2GB Secure Digital card, $69.99 with a $20 rebate. $6.37 tax for me in CA. I'm in San Jose, and Two Day Shipping was only 30 cents more than Ground shipping, so I got that for $7.21 for a total of $83.57.

No big deal; so you paid $70 shipped; he payed $84 shipped and will have to wait months to get his $20 rebate back. Not to mention the time and effort needed to get the rebate form on its way. Despite the bottom line $6 price difference I think you got the better deal ;).

It's all about how much time you're willing to wait for your money back. I myself tend to forget about rebates after I've sent them out and I makedo without them; when they do finally come, I'm not expecting it, and it feels like finding free money.

Yeah, I started doing the math and it didn't come out that different. It was the almost $7 in tax that got him though.
I just checked newegg and they're out of them.

Right. Many customers seem to forget that sales tax applies to the price before the rebate. And the shipping got him, too, considering that newegg usually get your orders to you in three days or less for $4.81.

you guys realize that since he is in CA, newegg would charge tax, thus leading to a total of ~$75 with shipping, so the outpost deal is definitely worth it. besides, i must have done at least $400 in rebates last year and i've gotten every single one.
anyways my point is if you live in a state where newegg charges tax the outpost deal is better. newegg is sold out anyways

It's like stigmata said, don't order the things expecting to get the rebate. Compare prices prior to rebates. Congratulations to anybody who has had no rebate troubles in the past, but I have had them. Basically, they don't have to honor their rebate if they don't want to. More than once, I have sent in the rebate, with all the paperwork, receipts, and UPC's they asked for, and gotten a note that I had left something out. "Your rebate request was incomplete. Please include original UPC from the box." I can't send it to you, you guys already have it. "Please include original UPC from the box." YOU HAVE IT ALREADY, ALL I CAN DO IS SEND YOU THE BOX WITH THE CUT-OUT AREA ON IT WHERE THE UPC USED TO BE!!!" <climbing up a clock-tower with high-powered rifle in hand...>
[B]AAAAARRRRRRRGGGHHHH!!! TAKE THAT!!! AND THAT!!! AND THAT!!!
