When you buy a secure digital card, it's a industry standard. You don't worry about voltages, etc.

Well I'm depressed. Quite frankly losing interest with my axim x51v It never synchs..I always have to hard reset it and cancel just before the confirmation for it to synch. Now I went to retrieve some files on this SD card and it's ALL GONE. Some apps, mp3's, ebooks WTF. Weird thing is when I go to memory it shows the card as being filled with 983 MB but there isn't one file on the thing. ARGH....any thoughts here?

Sometimes, it's not really the problem with the storage card but programs messing it up.

A little embarrassing thread I started a year ago.

Thanks to Mennesisyys, however, my problem is solved.

I hope this will help you.
Do what I did, buy another one at the better price. You'll feel much better.
Keep on buying, Pal. You can now enjoy that feeling again, because the price dropped again to $44.99. And I might just follow your advise, too. ;)

Some users reported problems with the 2GB and 4GB 150x A-Data cards in some devices. I tend to attribute these problems to device or operating system issues. Unlike the 150x cards, the 2GB 50x A-Data discussed here uses technology which has been around for a while. Therefore there should be no problems at all. EngrPaul, who started this thread, has several of these, so I guess they must be very reliable. Just read this and the related threads. This is a great card.

Transcend have a good reputation for quality, as far as I can tell.

SanDisk sell three card series, plain (blue), Ultra II (black), Extreme III (black). I would not bother with the plain cards because the competition is cheaper and often faster as well. The black series are very nice cards, especially in a camera or card reader. They do not perform so well in the Axim, and cost a lot.

Received my card today after ordering it from Newegg (44.99 + 4.81 shipping) late Sunday night. Strange thing was that Newegg gave a tracking number for UPS and I was able to check the progress of the package through the UPS website, but it came in a Fedex Box (with a UPS label). It was such a large box for this tiny flash memory card. The card was recognized by my x51v right away with 1962.09MB!

...
Yeah it is ridiculous. I have received flash cards in cartons big enough to serve as a shoe box. Unnecessary weight and volume means more energy is needed for storage and transportation. It may not matter much for individual packages, but multiply this by 1000s of packages in a day, 5 days a week, and so on. Enviromental awareness needs development.

The only reason I possably see for this is, they buy boxes in bulk to save money and this huge box must be the smallest they got.

The weird thing I don't get is the Fedex box with the UPS tracking. Maybe they ran out of UPS boxes and used a spare Fedex box? I didn't see the truck as they just left this at the front door, so this must have been the case.

In addition, think about the savings in shipping costs; Just put the card into an ESD bag and then a USPS envelope and send it for a couple dollars less. We pay a lot of money for those blister packs and cardboard backings that we simply throw away when we receive the item. When you receive a package the size of a VW surrounding a product the size of your thumbnail, you have to wonder what the total shipping markup is.

Weekend Sale

Looks like they're having a weekend sale on this again - $43.99 plus $4.81 shipping. I may not be able to resist this time...
