Got an email from Skype today and also saw this on SlickDeals. Starting from today, [url=http://www.skype.com/]Skype[/url] is offering free phone calls within the US and Canada. It doesn't matter if it's a Skype-to-Skype call or a call to landline or mobile phone - it's free as long as you're calling from within the US or Canada to US or Canadian phone number.

I live in Canada, and it works great on my PC and my Axim (just dial +1, then the area code and number). I can't be sure, but I've looked and can't see anything that says it has to originate from Canada or the US, just that's where you're calling.

I got the same email earlier and have made several calls already using the Axim x51 - it works great! In fact, just flipping it over and using the speaker and internal mike, it actually sounds better than using a head/mic piece with the laptop. Who knew. :approve:

Did'nt work at first for me but next day it worked GREAT. I figure its cause I had to set up a new account with them and account had to be validated. But I did not have to put any money into account and it still works great. Give it a day and try again

It works for me on my x51v I put it on my ax yesterday and talked to one of my friends for 20 minutes and right at the 20 minute mark it hung up. I just called back and talked for another 6-7 minutes. Is everyone else experiencing this? The 20 minutes of use and then an auto hang-up?

Nope. I talked for an hour last night. I didn't think the sound quality on my AX was nearly as good on my computer. But then, I don't own a mobile phone and so I can now go to a wi-fi cafe and use my AX like a mobile phone with Skype. That is so cool!
