Don't be afraid to check out ebay :). I got a 1gig CF for 157.50-no rebates to hassle with, either.

There's a rock and hard place... trust an EBAY seller or a rebate processor.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I've been an eBay'er since 1997 and have never been cheated on anything (buying or selling). You can usually at least get a decent idea of a seller by the presentation of their auction. If it is just text....then no way will I buy, usually. Just a simple text/picture combo.....I'll consider purchase if the seller has a good history. If it is a very nice layout, with good wording, nice layout, visually appealing, etc.....then I'll usually bid on it (unless the seller has a bad history).

Not really-at least not for me. I have been buying on ebay for 3 years now and never had a problem. I figure the CF was new - in package. I know SanDisk has a good return policy and they do not require a receipt to get a new card if the one you have is faulty. Plus I hate rebates.

I actually went for the rebate (let's see what's gonna happen) but I have never had a real issue with ebay. It just turned out that I did not find a good ebay deal when I ordered the card
