Well..the summertime discount didnt work...Riven was 12.99 but after purchasing through paypal I still havent recieved anything...no Myst offer and its listed on the web site as 19.99....quite dissapointing...

Hmm, I got Riven and even the email with the $5 Myst information. However, the code provided for the Myst discount is getting rejected. /sigh I've sent an email so we'll see what happens. At least I got Riven for $10 (with the summertime code still working). I would gladly pay $5 more for Myst too.... :approve:

The day i wrote the original post it worked fine for me. Bought riven first, got the confirmation email with the discount code for Myst, and then paid for myst at $5. I didn't know the summertime discount was still working so didn't try that one. I hope the rest of you can get it to work too.

Just an update: I have not heard anything from them about the code not working. Been over 24 hours and no response to my email. Code still not working.

Well, here is how things went this morning. I started out being resonable, and then just got annoyed. For the first time in my life (no joke) I finally got peeved enough. I am normally patient, but the more I thought about this, the more it felt like a scam. I will never shop at PG again. I would NOT have bought Riven without the offer for Myst. /sigh I am writing the BBB about this one.
Pocket Gear:
"You can just complete the purchase, and then send an email to [email]support@pocketgear.com[/email]. We will credit the difference to your credit card."
Me:
"Seriously ??! I want to pay $5 for it, not $20 and hope I see a refund. I want to do this because your email said I was entitled to do this. You gave me a code in order to do this. The code does not work and I feel cheated. Can you please give me my working code? Giving me a bogus code and then asking me to pay in full is really shoddy."
Pocket Gear:
"Unfortunately I cannot issue a code, my only option is to credit you once the purchase has been made. "
Me:
"This is a terribly sneaky ploy by PG to get business."
Pocket Gear:
"Sir, there is no scam, the code has worked for countless numbers of others without issue. I merely offered you an easy answer to get the discounted merchandise."
Me:
"No, you offered me (and several others) a code that does not work and then said I could pay full price !! and wait for a refund. How is that NOT a scam ??? Considering the misrepresentation of the first part here, I am not about to trust your company to refund me the 300% (!?!) extra I must pay first to get my discount. What a sham!"
Pocket Gear:
"If you follow the instructions on The Riven product page exactly it works, we have tried it here."
Me:
"Oh, so now it is my fault? I didn't follow directions? /grrrrrr I did follow directions. I waited for my email. I then signed on to the same account and added myst to my cart. Then I tried the code. It then told me I had already used the code or it couldn't work. I am so very happy that it worked for you, but it did not work for me. I really don't need your sympathy. . . . You are not helping me at all finish a transaction that you said I was entitled to. In fact, you swindled me out of the first $13 for Riven with the notion that I would get Myst for $5"
Anyway, this is terrible customer service and there are other stores out there. All they need to do is reset my account so that the coupon works. Or set me up a new code. But asking me to trust that they will refund the difference is quite suspect considering the offer to begin with.

I sent an email to Mean Hamster Software (makes of Riven/Myst) and John Swiderski wrote a nice reply saying they weren't certain either why we have to pay full price and get a refund.

Well, I am satisfied now. Mean Hamster wrote to PocketGear and I was sent the following email. I was able to use the discount and am happy to say I appreciated their response; their getting the code working again; and getting the software at the advertised discount. Here is the email as he mentions I should let 'all at aximsite' know. I am happy to do so. (I had previously sent links to the two different threads here):

We’ve had several customers write in regarding this coupon and today was the first I’ve heard of it not working properly. I talked to our customer service team and they’ve been asking customer’s to purchase Myst at full price and then refunding the difference. I can understand why you, or any other customer, would be apprehensive accepting this offer so I’ve decided to change the policy with regards to partial refunds.
