Thanks for the info! I have been using NAV for years now, but am unsure if I am going to continue. Although the prpgram is great, it seems to be a HUGE resource hog

You should try this then. :approve:
Or for a full Firewall too, this

I agree 100%. About 3 weeks ago I got fed up with CCAPP.EXE freezing my system (Windows Explorer to be exact) and Symantec ignoring the problem for years (since I bought the computer).
I still had life left in my Symantec updates, but needed to cut my losses fast. I tried McAfee 2006 and since then my computer has not frozen up. I am very happy.
So if I had the choice of getting Norton free (especially with the hassle of rebates) or paying for something else, I would definitely get out my wallet.
Thanks for the great link, anyway!

You know, it used to be the reverse - McAfee was the hog (I remember when v4 came out) and Norton was faster and slimmer. Now? It's like they've exchanged places - McAfee's STILL a hog, but Norton's even worse. Plus, disk scans took forever to run...
NOD32, on the other hand, is a lot smaller and faster. A 250GB disk is done in about 20 minutes. Norton would take 3 HOURS to run on just 30GB... and God help you if you wanted to do a larger drive.

Funny, I've used NAV for a long time. But, my ISP gives out McAfee for free. So, I decided to try it. With McAfee I could not get Activesync to work. I went back to NAV.
I'm with road runner, Time Warner Cable, and they provide Computer Associates Antivirus package with pop up blocker, pest patrol, etc, the whole suite.
I've called them, and support is pretty good.
It's good to get something for nothing extra, especially with the price they charge each month.
