I tried to play files stored on my Axim with Real Player. I kept getting a message error --- cannot find server. On some other forums, I noticed others were having a similiar problem. Anybody have any suggestions?

Can you browse the internet? If not you don't have you internet settings correct on your Axim.

The .ram file is stored on my axim. At the moment, I am not using my Axim to connect to the Internet. I am able to play the .ram file using real player on my desktop, but can't get it to play on my Axim.

.ram files can point to a server out on the internet. Try playing it on your computer while its not connected to the internet. I bet it won't work...

I found this on the internet, hope this might help...
Why do I get the message "Clip is not playable" when I try to play a
clip?
This document applies to:
- RealOne Player for Pocket PC
If you receive the error "Clip is not playable" when you try to play a
clip in RealOne Player for Pocket PC, you may not have used RealOne Player
on your computer to transfer the clip to the Pocket PC. To resolve this
issue, use RealOne Player on your computer to transfer clips to the Pocket
PC device.
To transfer clips from your computer to the Pocket PC:
1. Connect the Pocket PC device to the computer by placing it in the
cradle. Ensure the cradle is connected to the computer.
2. On the RealOne Player View menu, click Devices.
3. Select the location on the Pocket PC device you want to transfer
to.
4. Click Add Clips.
5. Browse to the location of the clip(s) you want to transfer.
6. Select the clip(s), then click Add Clips.
7. Click Close, then click Transfer.
The Transfer Status area displays a progress bar until the clip(s) are
transferred. If the Pocket PC does not have enough free memory to store a
clip, RealOne will indicate that the clip Will Not Fit under Transfer
Status.
Thanks for your help on this. I followed your suggestion regarding the file needing an Internet connection, even though it is stored on my hard drive. You were right. The file will not play if I close my Internet connection. The broadband is so seemless, I didn't even know it was streaming from the Internet. Ya gotta love broadband.

Well, they work on mine, but there are 2 issues...
1. RealOne only supports the rtsp:// protocal
2. RealOne PPC only can play ~200 Kb/s stream
If your clip is an from an http server and not a rtsp, you are SOL.
While mine does work, not every clip works. Premium content will not work since the RealOne PPC does not support security (no baseball, some radio, etc...).
There is NO way to use .RAM files offline that are designed as streaming. That is just the way .RAM files are. The RealOne Moblie player is a piece of crap so don't get discouraged...

Thanks. You confirmed my fears. I guess I will just have to buy a wireless router and WiFi card for my PDA.
I hope she understands. B) Oh well, its Valentines.
