Hi ya'll
I have got 2 Sandisk SD cards (128 mb) from Amazon and had to returned them because they did not work properly.
Has anyone else experienced this with SD cards or is just bad luck chasing me?
Thanks!
A.O.

What types of problems were you experiencing? I haven't noticed any problems with my 128mg Sandisk SD card. I am having problems with the Axim wanting to format my 256mg Sandisk CF card everytime I turn it on. I have no idea if it is a problem with the CF card, the Axim, or software I have installed.

sorry no probs here
i have 2-128's and 1-256 cf i previously used them in my old casio e-125 and when i got my ax they continue(d) to work fine. q? had you formatted- created a file "my documents" when you first placed the flash into your unit?
reason i asked is that when i first had my casio i failed to do this with a 68mg verbatim and i was never able to use that cf card.

I have a SanDisk 256 SD, and it worked perfectly right out of the box w/ no formatting.
Same w/ my 128 CF by Memorex.

I have a problem w/ my Sandisk 128MB SD too!
I used to use that card on my Panasonic digital camaoder and it worked fine, but after i got my Axim i formated my card and used it on Axim. The SD worked fine for a week and suddenly went out of buniess! I tried and tried but my PC and Axim kept telling me there was NO DISK!!! :(
Finally i contacted Sandisk last week and sent it back for a new one. Now i am using PNY 128MB SD. I got my PNY on discount(only $59), and it comes with lifetime warranty (Sandisk only has 5 years). :D

Thanks for the replies...
Initially both cards were recognized by my PC and SD-card reader with no problems. There was no need to format the cards. I transfered mp3 and pdf files to the cards and...
The first card was not recognized by the Axim. That was it. After this it was not recognized nor formattable by my PC neither.
The second card was recognized by the Axim. I was able to add/remove mp3's for about 3 weeks. Then all of a sudden the Axim did not recognized it again neither my PC. All the time I was careful not to remove the SD card from the reader or the Axim while it was in use.
Good for you guys having good cards... enjoy!
A.O.

I have the Sandisk 256 m SD card and I have not had any troubles with it.
I've only had it for a month, but I have my .wav files stored on it and use it every day at work to listen to music.
Sorry to hear you've got two bad 128 one's. I hope my good luck lasts...

To Aximowner:
Interesting that I also purchased a SanDisk 128meg card from Amazon and right out of the packaging it was not recognized by my Axim and would lock it up. I sent it in to SanDisk and they replaced it and this one now works perfectly! Maybe the batch Amazon got were bad?

Check the posting in the General forum, it appears that some of the Axims have faulty SD slots... Mine is, the SD card keeps losing the data, etc.

I've heard random complaints from some Sandisk customers. That's why I went with a Lexar. Hopefully, I won't be disappointed. :o

[b][color=blue]I also have bought a SanDisk 256MB SD card, I had no problems initially, did not have to format the card to use it and installed lots of programs with no problems. Recently I created a "My Documents" folder and loaded data into it. The data disappeared immediately after copying it over. I deleted the folder and created a new folder with a different name and had no further problems.
However, checking recently, it appears I have lost about 40 MB of space on the card that is not accounted for by the programs I have loaded on it...
The loss of space is not an issue at the moment, but I will investigate further. Any ideas?

My 256MB Sandisk SD card also conked out on me. Fortunately, Dell seems to have a good return policy on it and is sending me a new one and picking up the old one Airborne Express from me.

Here's an observation that may prove irrelevant, but what the heck -- most of the posts I'm reading on this seem to point to a nothing-to-lose scenario. (By the way, all 5 of my CF and SD cards work, although my 256 CF is a Simpletech):
On all of my cards, both SD (2 SanDisk 128s) and CF (2 SanDisk 64s and 1 SimpleTech 256), there is one file in common. It is a zero-byte file named "ignore_my_docs" (note that there is no filename extension).
I'm not planning on testing this theory on a working card, but someone with a non-working card and a reader, or someone with a card that keeps "disappearing" files, but that can be seen on the PC desktop, might want to try creating 0-byte file (right click on your PC desktop and select new text document; then rename it) and copying it to the card to see what happens.

That zero length file observation is a good one to remember. I think I'll stick a note about it on my Axim. You'll never know when a little jewel of info like that will save the day.
My new SanDisk SD Card gave me one little hiccup about a week ago. When I first stuck it in the Axim, I was surprised not to get a message about the OS wanting to format the device. Oh well, I copied some stuff to it and installed some apps as well and sure enough a couple days later the thing was blank on start up.
I shut down, pulled out the card and then re-seated it. On the next power up, sure enough WindowsCE asked if I'd like to format the thing. Of course I did and have not had a problem since.
I've re-installed a number of apps on it, copied a bunch of lit files from my PC, used the registry hack to put my temporary internet files on it and done a Save As of large message attachments to it from the Built In Storage. Not a hint of a problem.
By the way, that zero length file does not exit on the card.

Hmm. The 128 MB SanDisk I have acted up again. I was prompted to format after everything was wiped clean. No choice, so sure.
On re-start the only thing on it were the Temporary Internet Files which get there through the Registry hack. Glad this still works.
To exercise the card vigorously, I synced up and copied a bunch of stuff. The Axim PDF manual (about 1MB), and some LIT files. On copying the second LIT file (about 400 KB), I got a message that the card was full. Checking System memory, the card indicated about 105 MB available space, but when I "Explored" the card from the activesync window on the desktop PC, it was full of un-named folder icons with a . behind each. And sure enough that zero length file mentioned above was there too.
I deleted all the strange folders from the desktop explore and was then able to continue copying files to it.
I then unsynced and fired up wirelessly and started up Pocket Outlook. My current mail loaded up including one with a large word document attached. I opened the attachment and did a "Save As" to the SD Card. It copied fine to the card and it opens up in Pocket word just fine from that location.
We'll see how this goes from here. I'm clueless. Will that zero length file on there be the magic bullet?
