Having tried and failed to get my no-name clone bluetooth adaptor to work under 2003 I finally gave up and decided to buy a Socket one as they seem to be one of the few with working drivers
Had a look around and found this place selling them cheaper than anyone else - £70 cheaper than some places :hide:
I bought a noname jobby too and it didn't work. It was down to the Axim assigning COM ports differently than most other PPC's. I only found this out after buying another for £50 and visiting the manufacturers website.
I found this interesting reading and may very well work for yourt other BT card. It did for my Sitecom one but not for the other noname one (now sold so can't try with new firmware version).
Hmmn. It doesn't for mine. Just bought Sitecom CF Bluetooth from Maplin for my Axim X5 and it keeps on coming back with COM 6 on soft reset, even after the registry changes suggested. All I get is BTTrayCE error message "Bluetooth could not be correctly initialized".
That Sitecom word document is ambiguous. It can be taken to read as long as the two registry references are to the same COM number, all is OK. Or, "change them to 7". However, neither works for me :-(
I intended to use my BT for connection to a BT GPS receiver. In some mobile and on-foot use, it can be advantageous to have a BT connection to a GPS.
Below is the reply from Sitecom - no way ahead their either :-(
"Sir, unfortunately we don't have any other solutions for getting this device to work with the Dell Axim. The solution that you tried has been known to work, but I've also had a couple of support requests stating that it doesn't. Unfortunately at this time we don't have anything that will help. You may need to return it as unsuitable for your needs. Regards

"I can't reproduce the problem. I downloaded the installer he used, which only supports Billionton cards (I'm assuming Billionton sold it to Sitecom). I ran the installer on the Axim X5 PPC 2003 and used the Billionton CF card I have and the stack started without problem. FYI - The COM port problem you mention was fixed a while ago. If the card you have isn't supported, the stack would never even try to start, so that's not it. Maybe you have a faulty card?"
I solved it all by returning my "noname" BT CF, returning my Sitecom one, buying a Socket one, which did what it says on the tin and worked first time.
Well great to hear that you've now got BT on your Axim. I must say that having started off with WM2003 was a bit scary as so many products don't (yet) have drivers for it.
Would love for my X5 to have WiFi and Bluetooth built into it :-)
