Belkin CF 802.11b for $30 AR CompUSA

I just got back from CompUSA with a Belkin CF wireless. $30 after rebate. Seems like a good deal. 292638

They also have a Belkin wireless router for $30 after rebate. I got that too. 301825

Looks like the CF card may not work with WM2003 yet, but see my post about that on the Hardware troubles forum.

Sale is good through 8-23-03

drivers that work.

After reading many other posts on this site, I downloaded the drivers from the below website and they work fine. I am still going to get the official ones when they come out but at least I can use my card now.

download the "WLAN_ForWinCENET400.zip" file.

The OS will still give you an "Unrecognized card" error.
Enter 'wlannds.dll' (without quotes) into the input box and click
'Ok'.

Good Luck.

How is the range between the card and you router? Is your connection pretty fast? Does the card chew through your battery?

The range seems ok to me but this is my first wireless device. I do get 5 hits from my house to about 3 blocks away and I figured I was the most computer swave person on the block. Of course most of them are wide open! hehe I am not saying it works 3 blocks away.

The connection speed does seem slow to me but again I have no reference. I do have a cable modem (as the base station) and of course it is much slower then that. I would guess about 1/2 dialup speed. Anyone have any way to benchmark this?

The battery does seem to go out fast but I just have the stock battery and this is my first PDA too and I don't really know what to expect. If you read the other thread talking about the driver (that I just added to my origional reply) I think someone talks about this driver really eating through the battery.

As I stated above, I doubt I have the options and functionability of what the OEM drivers would be but it does work and thats all that matters to me for the moment until Belkin gets the 2003 drivers up.
