SoftMaker sent me a couple of emails in the past few days with offers that might be of interest here (the emails encouraged me to spread the word, and I'm happy to do so as a very satisfied customer)
First, they are offering their Windows version of their 2006 edition office software for free at softmakeroffice.com. They'd be delighted if you upgraded to the 2008 version that includes the presentation software program, of course.
Second, they've lowered their upgrade price for the PPC 2008 office package.
Call me old fashioned, but i just cant stand the ribbon that Microsoft is forcing upon us in office 2007, and in other newer ms software.
I just love the UI of Softmaker. Maybe when office 2003 gets old, i will consider getting their version. That way i dont have to relearn everything.
I did the same thing when IE7 came out. That was the last straw to make me do a 100% switch to firefox. I was already fed up with IE6.
And if you know how to use IE6, firefox is EASIER to use than IE7.
I also had numerous family members and friends ask me what the heck happened to their internet explorer when XP automatically updated it to IE7.
I decided to give them all firefox with an IE6 skin. They loved it and loved the new features and security of firefox.
Just goes to show you how microsoft can actually make people stop using their software by switching things too quickly.

I think you can uninstall IE7 from XP, though personally I much prefer tabbed browsing, but do 99% of my browsing from Firefox.
Wish Softmaker had the Mobile version for free.

If IE was updated to 7.0 on the computer, you can go back to the earlier version by restoring from a restore point prior to the update. I've been using IE7 since it was released and like it.

Assuming you installed IE7 via the update, I *think* it can be uninstalled. I will double-check Monday on one of my test boxes at work.

I think IE7 can be removed from XP and reverted to IE6, but I've not done it myself. You can't really remove IE6 from XP though, which you already knew Zaniax.
