We have a bet in our company on how many more sales we will get if we have a huge sale on Stocks and Weather Today. The sale has been going on for about 24 hours with no external advertising. We are now posting to a couple of discussion groups to see how many more sales we get.
Here are the details:

Go to http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?productType=2&optionId=1_2_2&platformId=2&siteId=1&productId=43149 for more information.

The animated weather looks pretty cool. If I didn't have Journal Bar (actually working correctly, too), I'd probably buy it. Oh well, I'll probably regret this later.
Got my copy a moment ago. I had just paid $20 bucks or Journal Bar a couple weeks ago. I like Journal Bar a lot, but as with others, have noticed it slowing down the system. So for $6 bucks, thought I'd give this one a whirl.
First impression is I don't know that I like it flashing (blinking--refreshing) at me every few seconds. I only have the current weather and forcast showing; no stocks and I don't have the themes running. And I don't have the animated icons turned on.
Works well with other apps; I also have WisBar Advanced and Snoopsoft's Dashboard running.
I do like the ability for several cities and to be able to select the stocks I watch. Also cool how you can set alerts for the stocks as they move either direction.
I'm glad I picked this one up. THANKS HANDANGO! THANKS VINTAGE SLOTS!
HEY DAVE!
Let us know how the promotion went, who won the bet and what prize they got.

If you are only tracking one city, you can turn off the blinking by setting the city timing to 0 for that city.
You can also turn off the animated icons. People either love the animated icons or hate them. Most people really like them though.
Whenever we add a new feature we try to make it possible to control it (i.e., turn it off).
Regarding system performance, that is one of the things we are really proud of. The application is very efficient. To date, not a single person has complained about it slowing down their system.
We are also proud of how it automatically deals with proxies. Lots of people use it both at work and at home. The application attempts to automatically deal with proxy settings. It is not perfect but works about 95% of the time. Of course, there is always manual override.

Thanks Dave. Setting the City refresh to 0 took care of the blinking. I like it even better now.
HERE IS WHAT I THINK I WILL LIKE THE BEST.
Before I leave for work in the morning, I plug in my Wi-Fi card to get the current conditions and forecast. With Journal Bar, it seemed like it could take a couple minutes or so; mainly because it was downloading a lot of information. BUT WITH this program, in less than 10 seconds, I was connected and had the current condition and forecast for the day, without doing anything other than inserting the Wi-Fi card.

Very nice!
Have you tried to soft reset when you are not connected to the internet? My weather data disappears and the area of the today screen for the weather is blank, or displays an inaccurate time reading. The program is supposed to cache the weather data which would store it in the event of a soft reset, but mine doesn't seem to be doing that. (Or, quite possibly, I haven't figured out how to get the weather to show up again after a soft reset when I am NOT connected to the internet.

Yes, that is how a lot of people use it. We went to a fair amount of effort to automatically detect when a network connection exists and then to update the data as quickly and effeciently as possible.
FYI, since today is a holiday, I am going to try and convince mgmt to continue the sale until noon on Monday.
Not sure what they will say. However, if the user community helps get the word out and sales continue at their current pace they may agree. :approve:
Another thing that might help is for those who bought it and really like it, a 5 star review on Handango would be appreciated (please don't mention the sale price though since I don't know when/ever if they will do it again).
Also, if you have any requests for more features, please email them to Support@StocksAndWeatherToday.com. A lot of the features that are in the application are directly from user requests.
Thanks

Just thought I'd give the trial version a look before buying.
GLAD I DID!!!!
Installed and got nothing.
Looked for help or infomation, and even back to handigo to get a web page. Nothing!
Soft reset. Then checked Setting->Today. Found some stuff to set up. So, I set up one location for weather and one stock.
Go NOTHING on the stock. The weather just showed a icon with half a sun and half a cloud and the time next to that. (there was no information or warning that it couldn't get to the internet)
Clicked the icon, and got a blank window = no weather.
Clicked the time, the time disappears.
Noticed a tiny tiny tiny pair of arrows on the left. Clicked those. They flashed and nothing else.
Got back into the settings for this from Today, and attempted to uninstall, it said that was aleady done. Clicked the prepair for upgrade and got the same message!!!!!
uninstalled from the Remove Programs, and deleted the directory and a few files.
Again, Glad I didn't buy this!

Sorry you had problems.
If you select help (from the Start menu) then there should be an entry for Stocks and Weather Today.
If you tap on the splash screen when the application starts you will be taken directly to help.
If you go to options, then you should see a big button labeled Help.
If you look on the Handango site you will see our support email is Support@StocksAndWeatherToday.com
If you go to our web page (www.StocksAndWeatherToday.com) at the very top is a link for support and an FAQ.
Anyway, that is excactly why we offer a fully functional trial version for people to try.
Again, sorry it did not meet your expectations.
