SANDISC?

Elsewhere on these forums there are MANY MANY people having problems with the sandisc 256. I was going to get one of the ones off ebay until I read the stuff here on the forums.

Have you not had any problems with the cards you've got form ebay?

I have two 256 Sandisk SD
cards and no problems,
and both have been filled/formatted
several times.....

I also got a 256 MB Toshiba CF card
which crapped out on me.... and I have
heard they are not compatible with Axims..
but dont know if that was the problem or
not...

Thanks for answering - I was worried for a while - do you have any idea why so many are suffering from this then?

It seems that the two UK users of (US-sourced) sandisc cards are OK!

I bought a 256mb Sandisk card from ebay, shipped from New York and I got it about 3 weeks ago... it's been perfect and believe me, I've put it through it's paces. Don't know why so many other people have had problems... maybe a bad batch?

Hi Cesio
I am interested in buying the 256 SD card also.
Can you tell me a little bit more about ebay and how you found them?
Have you got to register or can you just buy stuff from them direct?
Also can you give me the exact URL that you used because a search on ebay brings 100's of results up.
I also live in the UK so I am interested in how you found Ebay?
Thanks in advance.

This is the link to the ebay store for the memory card purchase, i've not purchased a card from this supplier before although will probably when funds allow.

http://www.stores.ebay.co.uk/ukmemorysupplier/plistings/list/all/dept9/index.html

You do have to register to purchase/sell on ebay. You will have to register for a paypal account if you do not already have one, although i have mailed the seller for other forms of payment. (i would use paypal probably)

As for finding the site, ebay has been about for sometime, it would have been through talking to other people, searches etc. I've only used the site once and that was for selling my palm! everything went very smoothly.

Take a look around the site, there is plenty of help/tips on buying an selling

The Psion 5MX will be going on ebay very soon

£2 cheaper, also from ebay - the seller who I've just ordered from (it was a bit more expensive a few days ago!)

Best Prices I can find

Pqi 128mb Multi Media Card
£37.24 inc VAT

On ebuyer, it’s not by ScanDisk and it’s the cheapest I can find, have brought from them before and their great! So if your looking for a good size card for a good price this would be good.

Other wise I’ve seen a 1GB microdrive for about £160, or 340Mb for £125 ish

All prices are in pounds including VAT

Hope that helps

340Mb £79.99

512Mb £129

all plus £3.99 delivery

SD and CF a little more expensive than posted here.

Note about microdrives

I put a microdrive in my axim today and had trouble getting out as there is no lip on it like there is on compact flash cards!!

Microdrive vs CF

I wouldn't go with a microdrive. Like previously stated it hasn't got a lip like the cf-ata memory does (reeeaaally hard to get out), there is an additional battery drain (watching movies wouldn't be fun), it breaks more easily (due to the moving parts) and it's not even near as fast as ata.

I could easíly spend £10 to avoid those problems (comparison between this and the quote from jss42 "1GB microdrive for about £160"). The cost/MB is still really low. CF memory prices are catching up with microdrives fast!

I'm in UK... I have 2 axims and had 2 sandisk cards

both cards had problems in both machines and both cards were from novatech in the uk.

I then tried 2 transcend cards (american) and they both had same problems in both axims.

I'm curious. Did you try your cards on another PDA, card reader, camera or something just to verify the problem exists on the cards or the Axim?

Just thought every one would like to know, I have
been officially freaked ... granted my Sandisk SD cards
have been perfect, I am selling them on ebay, so far
one has sold for $10 more then I paid for it!! .. and
the other one will go soon, (I hope..)

I will be replacing them with Lexar SD cards for the
same price as I am selling mine on ebay, from ecost.com..

SD cards are HOT on ebay! .. they go for $50 - $60 bucks on
online websites, but go for $70+ on ebay! ..
