$118 Axim (pricing mistake?)
This is probably a mistake and Dell may not honor it, but this is an Axim for $118 Canadian. Unfortunately I am not in Canada so I can't order it. But good luck to anyone that is.

I ordered two, have received the confirmation e-mails that the orders were placed. Just have to wait and see what happens?
 3:15 p.m. EST CORRECTION NOTICE April 7, 2003 Dell has become aware of a pricing error on our website for our Dell Axim X5 handhelds. The incorrect pricing of $89.00 for the 300MHz model and $118 for the 400MHz model resulted from a technical issue with one of our database systems. We endeavor to provide current and accurate pricing information at all times on our website. Nevertheless, such errors do occur. The actual pricing for the 300MHz and 400MHz models is $379 and $549 respectively, exclusive of shipping and applicable taxes. Accordingly, all orders for Dell Axim X5 handhelds with incorrect pricing will not be processed. If your credit card has already been charged, we will issue a credit to your credit card account in the amount of the charge. Please note that individual bank policies will dictate when this amount is credited to your account. Dell is not obligated to sell products based on pricing errors on our website. Dell will endeavor to contact all customers directly who have placed an order to notify them of the current situation and inform them that their orders have not been processed. We apologize for the error and any inconvenience this may have caused. We thank you for your patronage. Sincerely, Home and Small Business Marketing Dell Computer Corporation, Canada

I recieved the confirmation email on today (Sunday) but I am still waiting for the final email on Monday. I think I can make a good argument about them giving me this price or at least a price similar to this because I got the confirmation email. As I've said before this is false advertisement and as I click the link even now it STILL SAYS $118 on the site. I have little doubt that I will have to duke it out with a Dell Customer support agent on Monday.

Legal stuff
Hmmm...
For the order to be valid after you received your confirmation emails the confirmation must be an official "accept" on their behalf. If it is they can still claim "malicious intent" since you guys knew it was bogus. If Dell actually did sell a pocket pc (or palm pilot or palm sized pc or whatever in that product range) for less than $118 than malicious intent is impossible to prove, ergo you will receive your Axim for $118. Business law is actually quite fun once you find practical examples! (Im a business major, does it show? :) )

They cannot claim "malicious intent" because how does dell know (or prove) that we know about the pricing error? If real names are not used on this forum, they don't know where we got the information!
For all dell knows, I was clicking on their site and found the Axim accidentally. In that case it could be seen as "bait and switch", which is an illegal business practice.

It's currently 11 am in Toronto, Monday April 7.
I did place an order for the bargain Axim earlier this morning, but I don't expect it to be honoured. However, as of now, the link has been pulled. If they do honour that price, it will be only for a few. But it will be some consolation for the frustration at seeing deals in the US and UK, while Dell Canada does nothing. 2:30 pm update. Order cancelled. Back to their regular pricing.

dell pricing
If you go to the dell canada site dell has issued a pricing error correction notice on their web site and will be crediting all credit cards which have been charged and/or giving credits. They will not be honoring this price. Go to the orginal posting and you will see the correction price.
