Hi,
I downloaded the relevant files, installed the registry editor, imported the registry file but the driver installation is being rejected for some reason as the Driver Setup does not result in the Widcomm driver being available in the program list for installation/uninstallation.
I have an X5 with 64MB RAM, Rom version A05, English - is there another Widcomm driver for this model, or is there something else I need to do so that the Windows install of the driver actually deploys the drivers on the PDA?
Thanks in advance
Stuart
PS: I definitely have the rounded-corner version of the Belkin BT adaptor.
Good news everyone!
An online friend actually had the drivers in his PC and so he uploaded them to my web space and so everyone can now download the drivers and have this Belkin BT card *work* with PPC2003/SE.
Here is how:
1. Download and install this freeware registry editor program on your PPC:
http://www2r.biglobe.ne.jp/~tascal/download/pocketpc/tre_e.htm
2. Download the following text file and IMPORT it to your Registry using the above pogram:
http://www.eugenia.co.uk/belkin/Bluetooth.txt
3. Download these drivers:
http://www.eugenia.co.uk/belkin/TECH0850_Pocket_2000_2002.zip (5 MB)
4. Place the Bluetooth card on your PDA, connect to the ActiveSync and THEN install the drivers.
5. After the drivers have been installed, soft-reset the PDA.
Voila, you have Bluetooth, with a working Bluetooth Manager, via the Belkin F8T020 CF card on PPC2000/2/3/SE.
And if you need it, here's the illustrated documentation:
http://www.eugenia.co.uk/belkin/DOC_TECH0850.zip
IMPORTANT: these drivers are good ONLY for the "rounded corners" Belkin model F8T020 (picture). If you have the rectangle "F8T020 version 2" (aka F8T006, picture) then these drivers are not for you. The F8T006 has its own, native PPC2003 drivers on its CD.
Sclifton,,,if you have other BT drivers on your X5 you are gonna have troubles. My recommendation is to remove the all BT drivers and retry. You may need to do a "hard" reboot after deleting the drivers as they may stay in some sort of wierd memory. Back up your stuff before doing this. I had to do this hard reboot before mine worked. Once have removed all BT drivers, reload the process that Eugenia has outlined. Mine works perferctly. Good luck.

I wanted to thank those that have done an excellent job in this post in helping people with the 2003 Drivers Issue. I wanted to add, that after a call to BELKIN with a defective, should yours need replacement in the future, it will be replaced with the F8T006-PC . That has the advantage of having the PC card adapter as well as WINDOWS Drivers and the PC2002-2003 drivers ready to go, (Which BTW I have several different brands of CF to PC card adapters of which none would accomadate the F8T020 so it could have been used in a laptop which also would have been a moot point since no WINDOWS drivers anyway)
So should you have any issues, the reward is nice.
BELKIN support is very good, in an industry not exactly well known for quality. I told him it would not Power UP, that I had 1 other that worked fine in the same machine and that was it. Did some key punch, he asked if I wanted advance replacement or the typical send to us-we send back to you, and I went advanced. So I gave credit card (they authorize only no charge) and thats it, 3-5 business days for delivery. So if anyone needs this in the future, I hope I have helped in some small way. Thanks again guys/gals for the impressive help. If the rest of this Forum clicks like this, it should prove to be a nice find.

I bought this card too, and also experienced problems installing it.
Thanks to this site I was able to install the "work-around" drivers and got the bt F8T020 card working on my iPAQ 3950 which runs PPC 2003.(Yes, sorry I own an iPAQ).
The card connects nicely with my Adapt BT GPS receiver. But now the weird thing comes:
For no apparent reason the connection between the GPS and the iPAQ is lost. The BT Browser comes up again and I have to reselect the "PPP Slave" to activate the connection again.
I have times when it disconnects once every 2 hours but I also have times when it disconnects 20 times in 1 hour.
This had gotten me so frustrated during my holiday in Italy last two weeks I hard-resetted the iPAQ and bought I CF GPS card and used that one.
I'm getting pretty depressed with this card and I'm even thinking about buying a new PocketPC with BT already integrated in it..... So I really hope this problem does ring any bells out there and someone has a solution for me...
Greetings from a desperate iPAQ & Belkin User.

Any way of installing these drivers manually. I don't really want to HARD-reset AXIM unless absolutely necessary, too many settings(Wi-fi, email, etc) to lose. I have tried to get bluetooth on the Axim before, but wouldn't know where to begin in manually uninstalling ever item.
I have tried to download automatically when connected via Activesync, it goes through the usual process including looking at the device(Axim), followed by the pop-up Add/Remove pop up, but I don't get the "install default directory" and when I click OK, nothing happens. The Add/remove popup just closes.
Fed-up

Alternatively, exactly which BT drivers need to be manually uninstalled using PHM Regedit or TRE ?

The setup file above copies various cab files to your computer....................C/Program Files/WIDCOMM and therefore does not self-install to your Axim.
There you will find 2 folders which contain Cab files and documents. Copy the Cab file in the folder named WIDCOMM BTW-CE.......called BTW-CE.PPC420_2577.cab to your Axim. Then on your Axim click on the Cab file. This should install the drivers.
From all appearances the software and drivers install themselves, however now when I try to run the "Bluetooth Manager" I get the pop-up message................
The Bluetooth Radio failed to turn on due to insufficient driver memory available. You must perform a normal reset before you can turn ON the Bluetooth Radio.
Despite the soft reset and clearing the memory I still get the same message even though my system shows 14.46MB memory free for Storage and 25.10MB of memory free for Programs.
Can't help feel I'm closer, but still no cigar.
Any suggestions ?

Success.................... :approve:
I tried installing some of the other Cab files and low and behold one of them works perfectly (with no memory problem).
Here is how it's done:
1. Use this link to download the drivers
http://www.eugenia.co.uk/belkin/TECH0850_Pocket_2000_2002.zip
2. Once downloaded, unzip the file and click the Setup.exe file. This will download files to your computer into the C/Program files/Widcomm folder. In that folder you will see 2 separate folders and a total of 5 Cab files.
3. 3 of the 5 cab files will load onto the Axim when copied and clicked on your Axim. These are the Cab files that end in _2577.cab
4. The CAB file you need is BTW-CE.PPC300_2577.cab
Copy this 2 Cab files to a folder on your Axim(documents/bluetooth), then on your Axim, double click one of them to install the software, soft-reset the Axim with your bluetooth card in.
Very happy to get this working.

Thankfully, Eugenia's instructions worked flawlessly.
However, always the tinkerer, I wanted to see what Belkin offered for 2003 - per item #1 in her ORIGINAL opening post in this thread (before she added the update).
Both the person I e-mailed yesterday and the person I spoke with on the phone this morning deny the existence of ANY driver for 2003, whether alpha, beta or just not quite QA'd.
I'm surprised these drivers haven't appeared somewhere on USENET yet...

The workaround for this card on PPC2003 has two problems btw:
1. I never managed to get Bluetooth work with ActiveSync.
2. The PPC denies any other BT device to connect via OBEX and see my files, while the other way around works (yes, I checked all security/encryption checkboxes, nothing works). For example, I can flawlessly connect to a Nokia or Motorola BT phone and see its files, but these phones can't connect on my PPC and see my files.
