I primarily use this workaround to (GASP!) tether to my V551 on Cingular's grandfathered unlimited WIX package.
I've noticed the one-way aspect of OBEX - as long as I remember which way it goes I don't have much of a problem with it.
As far as ActiveSync, I've got USB cables coming out of my, well, I've got a lot of USB cables ;)
One thing that has bothered me is that when I disconnect my dial-up session and let the Axim go to sleep, the next wake-up usually results in soft-resetting it to get it working again. Then again, could be a conflict somewhere...
Anyway, your link to geeks.com got even better - the F8T006 is down to $21 now, so I'll give it a go when it gets here, presumably sometime next week. While I don't have a problem with hacks, I feel better running "native" solutions...
Yeah but there are no PC drivers for the older card, so what good would an adapter do if you had the older card?
Although I'm sure you can find some hacked up and questionable PC driver that MIGHT work on the older card ;)
As far as Belkin's price, I look at it as a kind of consumer Darwinism. Those who aren't smart enough to shop around will buy it directly from them and pay too much.
So put the crowbar to the wallet and get out your 20-odd bucks already LOL
Geeks.com has a super price on the Belkin F8T020 Bluetooth CF card:

Now, the problem is, Belkin does not offer PPC2003 drivers (but it works great with PPC2002 in case you haven't upgraded your X5). Update: Please read below where I detail how to get PPC2003 support with the F8T020.
Geeks.com also sells cheaply the PPC2003-capable F8T006 bluetooth card (aka 'F8T020 version 2') for $25: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=F8T006&cat=PDA This is the second model from Belkin regarding Bluetooth cards and it's better supported.
I bought one and am thinking about a second one, it worked so well with my x5 and laptop. Plan to use on my retired Axim x5 with a BT GPS.
Thanks for the referral...even after these many months! They still have them for $21 and comes with PCMCIA adapter. :approve:

It's a bad news for the old card holders. Actually I looked all around by google and get nothing about the driver for PC, even can not find "hacked up and questionable" one...... :rolling:
Can you plz share the information about the PC driver?
Now that I've been using T-T with Evermore BT GPS and Belkin CF BT card, I can easily say that all works very well - response time is good enough to dedicate this puppy to GPS for car/hiking.
Why waste my new x50v on it - BTW, Evermore BT GPS with 20 hours battery and 16 sat connect was ~$80 delivered here in a week from Singapore! Well, cane me once for that terrific surprise.

i can't wait to get rid of mine.. It goes down to 2D fixes over little stuff like say a railroad track you go under it goes down to 2D. then back to 3d.
I think the chipset is the Nemerix chip - whether Evermore calls it their own or not, I have had no problems at all with it in the past week. For the price ($80 delivered from Singapore including shipping) it simply seems to work superbly with the Axim x5 and this aforementioned Belkin CF BT card. Point being that the Belkin card is recognized and operational without any hitches for this specific application under (you guessed it) WM2003!
Hope this helps -
