1gig SD card - $44 128 SD $0 cost after rebate

Not sure if this has to be in 'deal's section, but with the timing....thought I would post here.

Can't vouch for the quality, but price is not bad......
they have 25 left ....with 24 hrs. left.

http://www.ecost.com/ecost/shop/countdown/default.asp

also, if you need a small 128 SD card, they have them for free after a $20 rebate.

Word of warning, eCost charges $4 "handling" even on the orders where they advertise "free shipping." And their countdown of how many they have left, and how long it lasts, is a total lie. You can watch them go down to zero then reset the counters.

Another word of warning. Ecost is very famous for not providing the rebates $ back. So just be careful and document everything

Those mail-in rebates are provided by the manufacturers, not by ECost. I just bought something from ECost and sent rebate form to the manufacturer. They have informed me that the rebate form is valid and now in processing.

However, I don't like ECost's "hidden" handling fee and their customer service. Luckly the product I bought functions flawlessly so I am happy.

The inventory number is a crap. It is just used to lure you into purchase. I saw a number bumped up within 24 hours.

how much was the handling charge and what did you buy if you don't mind me asking.
(a "EP MEMORY EPSD/1GB 1 GB Secure Digital (SD) Card" for 44 bucks sounds great, but I never heard of "EP MEMORY".
A very quick search of the web didn't turn up anything really bad about them.
Anyone have any experience with EP MEMORY?

from www.bbb.org-
Some customers experienced difficulty obtaining their rebates, claim prices and features advertised on the website are not honored, or ordered product could not be sold because it was on back order, or their was a pricing error. Others allege orders received were defective or contained the wrong parts. The company responds to most complaints by providing a full refund. In other cases, the company honored rebates, corrected pricing errors, shipped the correct merchandise, issued partial refunds or explained their policies. The company contends all returns must be completed within 30 days after the shipping date which may be subject to a 15% restocking fee on any opened/unopened returns, and contain a valid return label. The company also states product that is not in stock is still listed on the website for customers to order. These products are shipped when they are in stock by priority, and vendor prices are subject to change without notice.

Ecost got this rating:
BBB A very high rating. A company with this rating would not have a significant number of complaints or other considerations that could pose a problem to consumers.

I'm curious of the data speeds on the card. I've used eCost and loved it. On one occassion I had trouble locating a rebate form about 2 weeks later than I should have looked. When I asked for their help and they couldn't readily find it either, they just gave me full store credit instantly.

Again, has anyone used an EP brand card?

Fry's Electronics has a Pretec 60x 128MB SD card for $9.95 plus tax.
No rebates.

I found a link from another board. Looks like you can buy several types of 1 GB SD cards for as low $45.41 after rebate, and $54.61 Price(no rebate), but you need to add $4.81 for shipping at Newegg.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?submit=PROPERTY&SubCategory=68&propertycodevalue=531:7930&bop=and

Edealinfo has one for $55.47 shipped no rebate, but, it is a multimedia card.

http://www.edealinfo.com/DDCateg/digitalmemory.shtml

$44.00 is the cheapest I have seen a 1gig SD. But, I am thinking paying a few dollars more and not have to go through the rebate hastle may be the way to go.

I ordered the card, a few free things (after rebate of coarse) and other stuff I needed:
SubTotal :$143.97
Shipping :$1.99
Handling & Processing Fee :$5.95
CA State Recycling fee :n/a
Tax :
Grand Total :$151.91

I can live with that. Now if all the rebates come (I hate rebates-as I'm sure we all do), it will be a steal.

I'll let you all know how the card is/how ecost did.

Duh! Noob Alert!

Two things:

1) mail-in rebates SUCK! Don't fall for that trick used by Manufacturers - there are biliions of $ of claimed, but not sent rebates each year, (and as claimed above,) it is the Manufacturer who is ripping you off...

Go for the Instant Instore Rebate instead. If there is a mail-in rebate, I don't buy the product, at any cost! I've learned that lesson at least 10 times...

2) If the stock number increases after it goes down; its called to RESTOCKING! :azz:

"Noob Emptor!" And you can quote me on that!

For eCost you have to print the rebates yourself from the product page. eCost won't send you anything. Just a heads-up.
