Hello, I'm in the same situation. I ordered x50v, and the order dated of August 30. I called DELL, but they say I shall wait to receive the PDA and then, call back. Thay gave me a case # (so when I call, they can easily track my case). I paid full 599$ price.

What did you say to get the credit?

I'm still waiting to receive my order. Puro tracking say that it's currently arrived in Montreal center. The weird thing is that they sent it in 2 package, the Axim from USA, and the carying case and extra battery from Toronto. Friday, I received one package (the case and battery). I guess I'll have to wait till Tuesday to receive my order :rolling: (Actually Wednesday since I won't be here to answer at the door tuesday and they probably will leave it at postal office with note on my door: 'Will be avail tomorrow at postal office')

Well, I guess that if you baught it 2 weeks before the sale, I MUST be prown to get something with my buying it 2 *days* before sale...

Thanks
Big Boy

First do not pick-up the Axim on Tues from the courier.

Call customer care for Dell Canada on Tuesday, since you might get someone form India on the weekend, and make the request to cancel the order since you have not received the Axim yet. Customer Care will ask for a reason why? You can then explain to CC that the price has change and is lower with a upgrade CD, and you would like to reorder it at that lower price. 9 times out of 10 the CC rep will do a price adjustment and credit you the difference .

This is what did yesterday with Dell 10 days of deals, and paid $389 for the Axim x50v with the upgrade CD.

Btw; All Dell accessories are ship out of T.O. and the Axim comes from Nashville Ten

Well, there is a 15% restocking fee in their policy. Does it meen that they could credit me the difference minus 80~90$

Moreover, I baught it on a purchase plan. Not that I want to pay half of the price as interest (don't worry, I won't wait full 48 month to pay), but because I wanted to pay it over a 4~5 months period instead of a one-shot. So, they will have to talk with Dell Financials. Do you think they can credit me to a credit card?

Just as Zac said...i told them they have a 30 days return policy and i would send it back...pay the restocking fee and shipping and still be ahead of the game...and then reorder it...they at first would only give me the upgrade cd but after a little while credited my card $100...it wouldn't be worth it to them to get back a now second hand Axim and have me reorder a new one... Good luck

I called my Dell Rep in mid August and order it for $389 without the upgrade. Then I called back on Sept 2nd and requested the upgrade CD since I did not receive my Axim yet.

I used the info found here to negotiate a better deal in Aug,

I also read some where that the price break point for the Axim x50v in Canada is $350 cnd this is the cheaps price offered to customers.

Well, I figure that if I return the Axim, I'll get a 15% penalty, but I still save 100$ out of buying another one. So, if I get more, I consider it's a good deal... Well, I called and here's the full story.

Call placed at Dell CC, in french (since I'm native french speaking, it's easier for me to yell in french  :twak: )!

First, it started with a usual <<We can not garantee price from weeks to weeks...>>. After a minute or 2, the person (which I'll simple reffer to as 'CC' in this message) told me that the x50v was still at 599 after checking the site. I checked and told CC <<no, it's 454 in the site, with WM5 CD>>. After some verification, I found out that the french version of Dell site was still at 599. The did not even updated their french site (to tell you how they really care about their non-english cousins!). Anyway, I always went through the site using the english version (and ordered english Axim!). Well, 10 seconds after I told CC to look at the english version of the site, CC put me on hold to check (presumably) with it's suppervisor.

Then, and after saying that I was ready to not pick-up the order at delivery (at postal office actually because I'm not home to receive the package), CC told me that he was ready to give me a printer... wtf , I don't need a printer (I actually have a good laser printer and a color deskjet inkjet printer at home), and also told that this wasn't even comming with WM5 pre-order. After some :argue:, CC was ready to credit me 100$, still no WM5 CD.

For the CD, I :argue: and after putting me on hold, CC told me textually <<I talked with someone here and you can not upgrade your OS so the CD is not for you... >>. Then, :argue: and :argue: and again <<I talked to 2 person now and no, you can not have it, it's not compatible, you can not change an OS, ..., ... no-go>>

:rant2: :icon_lame

Well, this really look like a bunch of Radio-Scrap wannaby techies over there... (Which I really have some true stories based on real facts about Radio-Scrap, but that's another story...)

Well, CC said, can't give more that 100$, but after some more :argue:, ok for 125$ :)

So, in the end, I save more that if I would have returned the unit (considering 15% return penalty), and I can order the CD from the site directly, or even better (and I think they really DESERVE it), grab it in some obscure ways when it come out . This way, I will have saved 175$ (and more if you consider the tax, S&H, ... for that CD). :chair:

Thanks for helping me. Now, after checking puro, order arrived at home, <<Attempted Delivery - Receiver Unavailable>>. I suspect that it will be left at postal service point tomorrow. I simply can't wait to get my x50v .

Yes, I'll need one, or maybe even a few in the near future, for putting all the videos, apps, games, ... :-)

I was thinking of going with SD memory, and keep the CF slot free to use toys later. Am I right in assuming that there are more non-memory devices which are CF (like extention cards, GPS, photo cam, ...)? And also, does someone know about a place where I could find some sort of list, or a review of different CF 'toys'?

Thanks.

Should be picking-up my Axim tonight after work at puro office (I originally taught that it would go to postal service point). The hardest heartbreaking moments will be to have to watch the Axim stand in it's cradle, without touching it, for 8 hours to get it charged :) hehe Well, this will give me some time to read the manual.
