Advantage Club Wannabe

I really like this device, and am close to getting one. Played with it for a while at CompUSA, and thought it was great. I have a few questions - the answers to which probably will not be deal breakers, but more for my own knowledge.

1. I called an AT&T store in Boston, where I already have service, to see if I could buy a SIM card for data. They said yes ($40/mo.). I then asked about HSDPA and was told in my area (Boston) it is not available. I swear I have read on this forum, that it is in Boston. Was I asking for the wrong thing? Is it not available on a SIM?

2. Has anyone used OneNote Mobile on this device? I tried a little inking on the one at the store, and screen picked up every hand movement, even a light brush with my hand. Is inking at all possible?

3. I was wondering if it is possbile to print from the Advantage? I have found a few programs that appear to allow direct printing, but am not sure if you need to be connected to a network.

Thanks.

I bought mine at CompUSA for $540. How much are they going for now? I haven't used one note, but I remember reading someone else had and like it. I use PhatPad for inking and it works great. I didn't notice it picking up my hand brushes, but then I may have had my hand on the edge as I'm used to inking.

I wrote this article about the Advantage. It also has some links to other great Advantage articles. Hope it helps answer some of your questions.

Steve,
Your article is what prompted me to look at the Advantage as a companion device for my Tablet. I had been thinking only a UMPC would fill that role. But after reading your article, and sending back the OQO, I thought, Hmm.. . Maybe there is something else where I can actually see what is on the screen.

CompUSA is still selling it for the same price $540.00.

I have not quite finished my research. I am still evaluating syncing programs for "My Documents," high speed internet, and the OneNote issue.

On the other hand, I have to make a decision before C-USA runs out.

I decided to get the Advantage, and picked it up yesterday from CompUSA. The feature set was the primary influence, but the price ($540) was also a factor.

I have not yet decided whether to purchase an additional SIM or swap the one I already have - putting it in when needed. Since I use my BlackBerry a lot, I am reluctant to remove the SIM. I know the Advantage is also a phone, but I just like talking on my BB.

I am now in the process of setting up the Advantage as a portable office. I downloaded the trial version of MightySync, and did a test sync. It went fine. I then tried a more complete sync, and it crashed. I had to uninstall MightySync and will try the process again today. Also, I may look at the competing program - MobSync?

MightySync is driving me crazy. I assigned a several client files - none that big - and the sync seemed to have gone smoothly, yet when I tried to open them up on the Advantage, I only got error messages. I could not even start a new document.

I have since formatted the microcard, and will try again tonight. How do you use this as a portable office if you can not sync documents? Jeez
