Cigarette Lighter Interference

I plug my Advantage into my car's cigarette lighter socket to charge it while using the gps. When I charge it I get this horrible static noise through the radio. It drives me insane. I know nothing about line filters and such, but am willing to try anything to get rid of the noise. Can someone help me with an easy to understand solution?

Thanks!

maybe putting a capacitor across the two lines of power going to your device would cut the noise out. Just adding a simple idea since no one has responded yet
OH and check closely to the polarity if you try this, some of them can explode.
