Step 12, Configure Buttons
-Button 1 (messaging) = vjSlippyPalm
-Button 2 (Internet Explorer)
-Button 3 (Wireless) = vjBlueSync -BlueSync
--Button 3 (press and hold) = power off
-Button 4 (Camera)
-Button 5 (PTT) = iLauncher's "Task Manager"
--Button 5 (press and hold) = Voice Speed dial

-WMP Hold Up = FullScreen
-WMP Hold Down = ToggleScreen

Step 13, Organize and cleanup
-use PC "explore device" to organize startmenu and move/delete shortcuts

Step 14, Backup
-use export feature of any app to export their settings/registration to the "apps folder" on memory card for easy reinstall

* All the reg tweaks made above are exported to reg files and placed into the same microSD folder as the .cab files are located to allow easy installation the next time around

I'm pretty much done with this... anything that I have missed?

Looks about as complex as a rebuild on my 8525. Although, I've created a custom CAB with some of the registry hacks that I use to speed the process up a bit. I also use it to register some of my apps too, speicifcally the SBSH apps (works very nicely that way too). Saves a few keystrokes in the longrun..

Used the demo version of Win CE CAB Manager. Pretty much just imported a variety registry keys in there. Added a couple of themes in there too.

I need to update this again. AT&T added some more crap to their latest ROM which needs to be removed manually

and I've changed a few of the apps in step 6 and 7

I suppose I'll update MyPDA as well.

next week sometime

I removed psshut in favor of the builtin reboot of mobile shell, and the hardare power button will also manage it... hold the button down for about 5 secs and the phone will completely shutdown (reboot style)

edited the first post a bit...

I have all the SBSH apps (purchased or won), but I'm holding out on a few of them.
SBSH PocketWeather: nice app but for my BASIC needs, but the integrated one in MobileShell is sufficient (at least until Hurricane season...)
SBSH PhoneWeaver: as a profile manager it is MUCH more powerful and flexible than the basic one in Phone Suite, but there is no need for 2 similar apps and all they'd do is screw with each other...

I'm sorry Amit, for some reason I have a huge prejudice against SPB and love for SBSH, I'd love to have an all SBSH config, but Mobile Shell and Phone Suite are just too essential for MY current needs... I feel dirty :-(

I use i-Launcher/PocketBreeze combo (can NOT live without)... and PocketWeather is the best (I also have ContactBreeze)

I also use Pocket Informant

I don't have SBSH MyList.... I have ListPro (another program I use alot)

I use these programs daily on my dell axim x51v....

The SBSH PhoneWeaver vs the spb phone suite and mobile shell.....

If I went with SBSH PhoneWeaver on the 8525.... what would I miss that is offered on the other two (just curious) Perhaps SBSH has something in the works to fill the "void"

The possible greatest attribute of Mobile Shell to me is the NOW screen. with all the most useful items displayed right when you turn on the device. then the SPB Menu has a bunch of useful features built in, most of which are usable with your fingers

Phone Suite expands the usefulness of Mobile Shell with more "phonedevice" specific functions as well as the profile manager.

If you did not like Mobile Shell and/or the MS+PS combo, then Phone weaver is a very good chioce, as it is MUCH more flexible then the junior one in Phone Suite

I haven't had a chance to download and try any of them yet. I think that may be the best thing to do.

I am leaning toward getting the Phone Weaver, mainly because I have been pleased with all of my other SBSH products....and they usually have frequent upgrades to add/fix any issues.

Thanks again for your help Radimus!
