Switching from EDGE to WIFI
I have an unlimited data plan which is great, but I have a problem...

I have 802.11b and g networks at home and at work. I can connect to both of them with no problems. Is there a way to have the EDGE connection stop trying to connect when wifi is available?

I would think that there would be a way to do this automatically. I don't mind using EDGE, but when wifi is available, it's faster. The main annoyance is that when I am using wifi, I keep seeing the "connecting to EDGE, G3" message and I have to keep clicking on "hide".

Seems as though my device is unsure of what technology to use.

Problem for anybody else?

Before I sound like a complainer, I just want to say that I am thrilled with this device...especially after switching from a Dell Axim x51v. I never knew how rock solid a WM5 could be. This thing kicks butt.

Paul

you need to change your settings under start settings. and select the connections tab. select connections.

click the advanced tab and tap the select networks button. change the drop downs to my work network and tap the edit tab then the proxy settings tab to verify that "this network connects to the internet" is selected (for both private network and general internet connections after youve tapped the select networks button)

when you configure a wifi profile, make sure under the network adapters tab, that the drop down at the top under "my network card connects to" work should be selected.

if youre traveling and want to use your data plan, go back to start settings connections and select connections. tap the advanced tab then tap select networks and change the first drop down to EDGE, G3 or whatever its named (mine says mediaNet) then whenever an application wants network access it will use your data plan.

let me know if you have any troubles
