I've had a few days with my ATT 8525 (aka HTC TyTN and HTC Hermes) and thought I'd share a few links that I've found useful. I hope others add links, tips, and tricks they found useful, so that other owners of the device (old and new) may find help they need....

We got unlimited mobile to mobile family messaging package (included SMS and MMS), but I had trouble sending or receiving MMS when I tried it out. I found a solution....

1. Make sure "wap.cingular" is configured as the "Access point name." (It MUST!!)

* Additional features such as Wi-Fi and device based e-mail along with other 3rd party applications may not be compatible with the proxy settings associated with the MEdia Net profile.
* If there are connection issues with e-mail and/or Wi-Fi, configuring and using the My ISP profile as displayed below may resolve connectivity issues.
* Configuring the AT&T 8525 to use My ISP will disable MEdia Net (WAP) web pages when My ISP is used for connectivity. However, regular Internet (HTML) web page browsing will function as normal.

For those using Media.net
https://cingular.atgnow.com/cng/tutorials/KB71396.html

For those not using Media.net, but using "My ISP" (Configure the Connection Settings to Bypass the AT&T proxy on the AT&T 8525 )
https://cingular.atgnow.com/cng/tutorials/KB71267.html

2. Configure MMS Settings for the AT&T 8525

https://supportcingular.atgnow.com/cng/resultDisplay.do?page=http%3A%2F%2Fsupportcingular .atgnow.com%2Fcng%2Ftutorials%2FKB71325.html&resul t=0&responseid=88caabb514b8f7ea%3A1381e7%3A1135bd4 fa6a%3A-17e0&groupid=1&contextid=20641%3A11.51&clusterName =CingularCluster&doctype=1000&excerpt=Configure+MM S+Settings+for+the+AT%26T+8525#Goto11

If you follow the instructions, MMS will work!!

Hi Susan... my wife is considering the 8525 and I'd be curious as to your impressions after a few days of use & perhaps a compare/contrast with the x51v...

I am very pleased with it. I use(d) my axim every day..... I loaded many of the same programs that I had on my axim ....and the transition has been very easy!

It's NOT an axim.... but it is nice to carry one device instead of two

My axim stays at home now...and I still pick it up...just not as much!

As for comparing the two...here is a thread doing just that
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/other...ar-8525-a.html

If you (or she) have any questions, feel free to PM or email me!

I noticed a few weeks ago that, on my 8525, there is a blue light flashing next to the green light charge indicator.

What does that blue light mean?

When searching google, I came across this thread so I thought I'd ask.

Ssorry for the slight thread jack.

Whips

Edit:

The blue flashing light is the bluetooth indicator. Somehow it got turned on so I just turned it off in the connection manager.

Thanks, Susan for posting those links. They help a lot.
