How to delete stuff that is put on with hard reset
Hello,

I just did a hard reset, and a ROM upgrade that is the offical one from Cingular.

But i noticed that there are a bunch of stuff on there i don't really need.
I tried to do system-> remove program, but i don't see them listed.

I know i have a few programs of my own, but i don't see the one's that were loaded.

any suggestions as to how to go ahead and delete them?

Also which one's are recommended delete and which one's i should not touch.

Also i noticed that the WM5, i do not see the GPS component. I have it on my axim, and i see it on one of my phones that had the hacked WM6 (wish i could find it)

Deleting any thing that is embedded in the OS {rom} is not recommended, and as such they are not in the remove programs list. You can delete the shortcuts to the programs you don't use, but the apps will still be there

if you do a soft reset, after the hard reset, you can stop the customisation happening.

You'll have to set up your Own network settings etc...

the items that are in the customized install are in the hidden EXT ROM area. You should check out Hermes - xda-developers if you want to get into all of that

Thanks everyone,

I will do as suggested.

But just to clarify, i do not want to delete anything on the ROM, but only the programs that it installs.

The programs that it installs are taking up memory and i want to free up some to put some of my programs.

I'll try the hard reset a bit later, i finally got the phone working the way i want it, but I'll look into it when i have a bit more time.

But in the mean time if you know of a way to uninstall them please do let me know.

Also any idea regarding GPS? i can't get the Google or Live maps programs to connect to my BT reciever. I've matched the COM ports, but no information recieved.

Thank you very much,

i tried it this way and it worked.

Now my only question is am i missing something important by stopping the customization install.

There are two parts.

i let the first part occur because i noticed that my media net settings weren't there. when i didn't allow the 1st customization to occur.

So currently i have it after the 1st customization but i stopped the 2nd customization.

I like it. but i don't know if i'm missing something important.

But then again i can always do a hard reset.

The cab files for the second part are kept in the 'extended rom' partition. This is usualy hidden, but an aplication such as HTweakC will unhide it for you.

Be careful though as you don't want to delete anything in there

Oh and it can also unhide your gps settings applet

I decided to just reboot, have it install the files as it does normally.

I did notice a significant drop in memory because of my contact list.

Now that i realize this .. i can adjust certain things around.

Thanks for the input.
