8525 Up-Date Problem
I got a very good deal on a AT&T 8525 for my wife & it just arrived yesterday. Before activating the device & installing a bunch of programs on it I wanted to upgrade it to the newest ROM with WM6 since everything is going to be wiped anyway. The problem is that I cannot update it.

My computer can connect to the device without a problem. I get as far as:
Step 6. A confirmation message then appears and shows the length of time it will take to copy the necessary files (including radio image) to the device. Click Next to begin the update.

Right after I hit next the device turns off & obliviously the active sync connection is lost. Then I get an "error 209 connection error".

Has anyone else experienced a similar situation? Also, at the start of the update process when the file is executed the program is verifying my computer. If the device is connected the screen goes weird. It will just show a red, blue, green, & white bar horizontally across the screen. Is this normal?

I have tried reinstalling Active Sync & the device is connected to both AC power & the USB.

Figured it out.

Supposed to have the device connected from the start & the screen does go weird like I stated above. However I continue to follow all of the steps & it worked perfectly for me..

Make sure you are on a primary USB port and not an internal hub.
