This forum is slowly dying.

Step 1 was dell disc the axim.
Step 2 was the merger and its conflicts.
Step 3 was the illegal rom issue.

People are slowly getting turned off from the site from all 3 of these factors.

A disc axim means fewer new users sign up.
The merger showed that the dwindling size of aximsite could now be merged. Its no longer big enough to be on its own.
Lastly, some remaining axim owners have wanted the latest and the greatest and went to wm6. And since its illegal and not discussed here, all that discussion goes somewhere else.

I give aximsite until about 2009 or 2010. After that i predict it will just become a subforum at mobilitysite.
In 2007, and since the merger aximsite has lost its identity. It is basically a alternate url for mobiltysite.

Im not saying that there is anything wrong with this site or its owners/mods, its mostly dells fault for disc the axim. A forum cant stand forever on a disc product.

Its a forum to discuss the 8525 family of devices. The forum name is the big clue

As the 8925 is the flavour of the month that's where the discussions are.

BUT if you have a question about the Hermes/tytn family go ahead and ask, I'll even try and answer it.

It isn't aximsite bleeding to death, axims are dying of old age.

New Axim users (and new 8525 users) are fewer and fewer with every day. The carriers aren't providing them any longer, they are providing the 8925, so that is where the action is... and consequently the action is is Tiltsite.com (or the forums)

In 6 months or a year, HTC will release a new version of this device and then the 8925 forums will slowly atrophy while the new one gets all the action.

I only show up on this site occassionally to see what the latest news is for the Axim 51V that is 2 years old. I migrated from palm and then ported to an 8525 the items I need to communicate. My axim is still running and with 12GB of data goes with me on all travels. The 8525 is used on a daily basis and when travelling takes the brunt of the use. You are right - all is fleeting. I still come here to see what is new and what to do. Yes I am interested in WM6 and will search out what I need to know elsewhere, but I will still come here to see what everyone is doing. The long term outlook is bleak, since computers are getting smaller and smaller, it is getting easier to just take a portable with you. I own a Sony SRX77 (kind of small) and can drop a 160GB exetenal drive on it for mucho apps. That is not going to stop me from using my Axim or my cell, but it does change where I will be looking for info in the future. I will still check in and see what is out there, we are creatures of habit and I have always liked what I have seen here. I will amend and come here more often in the future. Thanks for all your info.

Since you all seemed so bored, have any of you tried the registry edits posted that allow Bluecast to work with the 8525? It would be nice to use the bluetooth headset with my Slingplayer. BTW if you haven't grabbed on to Slingbox, there is a way to spice up your mobile phone capabilities!

Axim may be dead, but this site is still the best out there for any information related to PocketPC. I believe this site will exist for as long as Pocket PC exist though new information on Axim line may soon become a case of the past.

I dunno - I haven't decided that a data plan was worth to chunk 'o change that AT&T wants (2/3 of what my home broadband is) so slingbox isn't in my future.

What I'd love to find is a charging cradle that'll work with my 2300Mah extended battery
