Cooked ROM: Faria-R32 / Dr Puttingham WM6.1 HERMES ROM-CLEAN
As the 6.1 ROMs are starting to appear I thought I'd try them out.

After testing many of the available ones, I'm settling on: Faria-R32 / Dr Puttingham WM6.1 HERMES ROM-CUSTOM+CLEAN - xda-developers

I prefer Lite ROMs and then install my apps. This process has gotten much easier since the proceedure described at: ROM Chefs: SDAutoRun gives customziation to everybody! - xda-developers has been adopted by many of the chefs

Using the above proceedure combined with the common practice of saving your application cab files on storage cards, makes hard resetting a much lighter chore.

My AutoRun folder contain the cabs as defined in the SDConfig file:
Quote:
LOCK:Enabled
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\00-HTC_Network_Wizard_1.1.cab
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\01-AT&T_Proxy.cab
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\02-KeyboardPatch.CAB
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\03-CommButton-Toggle-Vibrate.CAB
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\04-CallCalendarInstaller.CAB
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\05-PMCTodayShrink.cab
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\06-HTCActionScreen.cab
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\07-HTCAlbum.cab
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\08-Schaps_AdvancedConfig_v2.1.0.0.CAB
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\09-RDcalc.CAB
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\10-HTCStreamingMediawithCodecsv2.10.615.718.cab
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\11-MS_Reader_arm.cab
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\12-Adobe_Flash_Lite_2.1.cab
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\13-Adobe_Reader_LE_2.00.272329.cab
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\14-ClearTemp.CAB
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\15-Arcsoft_MMS_4281.cab
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\16-Cingular MMS Settings.cab
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\17-LiveSearch.cab
CAB: \Storage Card\xxTNTxx\18-GoogleMaps.CAB
Hide:Enabled
LOCK:Disabled
RST: Reset
After this process has automatically completed and rebooted, then comes the manual installation of the few apps that could not be installed automatically via the above SDAutoRun folder. like PocketPlus, PhoneSuite, MobileShell, etc

My next project is to use CE CAB Manager to make a custom CAB that will restore my personal customizations like Sounds and Notification settings

I'd like to point out that many of these ROM chefs make their ROMs locallized to their home market, so they may come pre-configured to the UK market (as this one is) or Germany, or the Middle East, or for a different carrier, or no settings for any carrier.

This issue requires localization of the device either manually or by the use of preconfigured CABs as shown by these items in my Auto Install:
Quote:
00-HTC_Network_Wizard_1.1.cab
01-AT&T_Proxy.cab
02-KeyboardPatch.CAB
16-Cingular MMS Settings.cab
Additionally, some of the Chefs include some apps built into the ROMs, even the Lite ROMS have SOME things added... So the apps that would be installed manually (or via AutoInstall) will vary from ROM to ROM. This happens to be the first ROM I've used that needed a MMS app installed
