3rd party Batteries

I found this battery posted on XDA-Devs and it looks interesting
::: Lion Battery ::: technical description

Quote:
3.7v, 3000mAh Li-ION battery for Qtek 9600, i-mate JasJAM, Dopod 838 Pro / CHT 9000, XDA Trion, HTC Hermes, TyTN, Cingular 8525, Vario II or Orange SPV M3100.
Li-ION 3.7V 3000mAh

Black with new battery door

Battery Type : External Battery

79.95 USD

(Made by Mugen Power)

It also looks big... really big.

My stock battery starts throwing 20% warnings at about 3:00pm (unplugged at 7:00am) Push email, BT, and occasional surfing.

I really need 3 or 4 more hours of use, but I'm not sure if I need 3 or 4 more pounds of battery at the same time :-)

i'm considering on of these phones.. how much use do you get out of it (as a pda, and as a phone).

Does it trickle charge via the USB?

Yes, it charges via USB... Full charge in about 1-2 hours depending on wireless and backlight

I use it about 50/50 each. Phone, media player, games, surfing, email, etc.

It gets to about 20% charge in 6 or 7 hours

I've just got mine.. so i'll see how it goes..

At work I'm never far from a USB socket, so I can keep myself topped up, and keep the main charger at home

I have USB cables everywhere (thanks to Rule #1), but my biggest pet peeve with that is I walk away from my desk and leave my phone behind.

Guilty of that one myself. I've got multiple chargers for the 8525 (thanks to having the old charger for my 8125 and multiple chargers for my SMT5600). They all do the job quite nicely, but if they're plugged in on my desk, I'll walk away and forget about it. Drives me nuts, since the thing is my lifeblood when I'm not by my laptop.
