Is there anything gained by spending more on a Tytn II instead of the AT&T Tilt/8925?

Other than a front camera that you can't really use in the US, are there any other differences?

The front camera should be active for AT&T, as they are rolling out that service now in certain markets.

I think there is no reason to pay retail, especially that price, if AT&T makes it available branded.

I agree!

But if you are "stuck" with another carrier, it is good to know it is available (for a price :))

Oh well, of course. That's a different story, I would still almost always consider my options and see how much it would cost me to get out of that contract, pay my penalty and move over to another carrier that offers the phone at a discount.

For example I fould locally that a retailer has HTC Touch for $299. Considering it costs $599 + shipping, tax, etc.. I could have gotten out of my contract, pay $175, and get HTC, it would still cost me less than buying it direct.

According to all the information out there right now, the AT&T Tilt/8925 will NOT include the front camera (only the 3MP camera on the back).

AT&T 8925 Tilt (HTC Kaiser 110) Specs | Technical Specifications | PDAdb.net

And to echo Hyedipin, the difference in price is $450. Isn't it cheaper than that to buy out of a contract?

Cheaper than $600 to buy out of contract? My $ was based on expansys selling price vs. local dealer 2yr contract price.

I left Nextel (took 4 phones with me)...and moved over to AT&T....had to pay fees on 2 phones (still under contract)...but with money saved in new plan.... I figured out the move paid for itself after 2 months...
