when i click on the 'external gps' icon in the system settings, i can see 3 pages..
1) Programs - GPS program port - set to COM4
2) hardware - GPS hardware port - port set to (none) and Baud rate - 4800
3) Access - Manage GPS automatically - box checked.

When i try to set the hardware port to some port (say like COM1 or COM0... ) when i close the page and re enter the gps settings, the hardware port is automatically set to (none). Why is that so?

When i try to connect to the MS Streets and Trips 2007 by clicking configure GPS, i get a message like:

The communications port is available but no signal is being received. make sure the GPS device is turned on and connected to the correct port

I dont know how to go forward from this moment.

Can some one let me know whats going on here.. or is there something basic that i am missing here..

thanks
Regarding Pocket Streets, I've been curious also. So I used a registry editor and edited the value at hkey_current_user\Software\Microsoft\Pocket Streets\12\GPS_COM_PORT COM3: to COM4: and reset the device. Now COM4 shows up as an option for Pocket Streets to connect to as well as the default 3 and 7. GPS works.

I downloaded this software and it will not recognize my internal GPS. What steps should I use? It is already set to COM4 and automatic.
