gasusan2005's AT&T Tilt!

If you have read ANY of the posts on the AT&T Tilt/8925/TyTN II you KNOW that I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of this device!

I was VERY disappointed when I found out that none arrived in town yesterday (launch day)....... My contact at the store promised she would contact me ASAP.

I stopped by my store this morning and they didn't have it...and one girl didn't know they existed and tried to tell me I didn't know what I was talking about (before the manager saw me and came running, lol). My contact person (a lady who has been very patient with my constant inquiries) was quickly by my side (poor thing was a little offended that I didn't take her for her word that she WOULD call/text me as soon as they arrived). Disappointed, I left reassured they would call ASAP.

About 3:30 I got the text saying my phone was in hand (I was grocery shopping). I made a dash to the checkout and stopped at the house long enough to tell the kids to get the groceries out of the car...and then headed to the AT&T store (I was there by 3:50)

(somewhere in there I sent a text message to Chris saying "IT's HERE!!!" )

Our store only got TWO phones.... and the manager was miffed because he has 5-6 people waiting for it (other than me). I got mine (of course)

I watched (amused) as two different people tried to get the back off to put the battery in. I finally stepped in and offered to do it (thanks to having seen the video on how to get the back off)....popped the battery in and handed it back.... only to take it back when they weren't sure where the SIM card went... (behind the tilted screen, NOT under the battery :) )

popped the SIM card out of my 8525 and put it in the Tilt... started to hand it back...and was told "no you keep it..... you seem to know more about it than we do" (big grin on my face, of course!)

paperwork took minutes...and I was on my way....smile on my face :)

Charging now...

I am going to hit the hard reset on my 8525, disable edge, and give it to my son (he can use the wifi at home and school). That has been the plan since the day I got the 8525.... and he has been waiting to get his hands on it!

He is THRILLED (but at work). Worked out well...because his birthday is Monday.

I haven't added any programs or even synced it yet......

I did send a text message to Chris on it....to let him know I FINALLY had my phone in hand (and was a happy girl again)

More later ...... looks like it is almost fully charged

Susan, I know you've been real busy doing news and such, so to take some pressure off you, just pop that Tilt in the mail to me and I'll be happy to review it for Aximsite:) You'll have it back in a couple a two tree weeks!

Susan, out of curiosity, how is the memory and battery. These seem to be the two biggest complaints with most HTC devices, including my Sprint Mogul.

And congrats on your new toy. :)

So far so good on the memory. (I did notice memory issues on the 8525) I haven't had a chance to test the battery. My 8525 held a good charge. I think I charged it every few days (which was surprising since I always left it on)

I am loading up the programs...so we shall see :)

Susan's AT&T Tilt Setup

Step 1: Clean Off the Device
Remove Programs: Uninstall unnecessary applications
Today: Turn off unnecessary Today items

Step 2: Personalize and Connect
Configure Device name
Set Personal/Owner Information
Setup ActiveSync
Connect BT Devices

Step 3: Install Applications
(Register applications as install- codes in CodeWallet Pro 2006 Desktop Companion for Windows PCs )

Taking an installation break (so far active “stink” has been behaving (oh my)…..I haven’t gotten to utilities, media, mail, messengers, maps or games yet (not to mention themes and extra icon sets). I had forgotten how much I have on my "phone"

I am going to tweak the settings on what installed so far…. I always find new “gems" when setting up (or making changes to settings) of iLauncher and PocketBreeze.

more tomorrow..... :)

Congrats Susan! I still have not gotten used to few things, but it is one powerful device! My Kids love the TeleNav chick when she talks! They crack up!

Sweet score! Congrats.

Question, I want one of these once I get back to the states. I am stationed at Fort Stewart (close to Savannah). How is your reception in GA? I had T-mobile before I left for Iraq and HATED the reception. I plan to dump my Blackberry pearl for a Tilt, but sure hope I can talk on it unlike my BB.

Hows the titlt's performance? My wife is in need of a new phone and we were considering the tilt. I've read some bad reviews to date. They say WM6 is buggy and internet browsing isn't any faster than edge?

(I have been sick so haven't been able to play much with my phone...but it has been within arm's reach :) )

Doug- Haven't played with GPS (yet)

Dan- MUCH better reception! I was with Nextel and there were MANY dead spots in GA. AT&T- none so far (in the house I could not get reception before and now I can...happy me!)

kabin- bad reviews?? not from me... I have had NO problems!

Part 2 of setup

I set up my Tilt using same format I did on my Dell Axim x51v.
My Axim was set up similar to member AKAJohn Doe (akajohndoe/PDA Screens - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting )
(Thanks AKAJohnDoe!!)

I spent some time adjusting the settings for the programs I already had installed

All my “stuff” is organized and easily accessible!

Spb Phone Suite- added photos to my most often called contacts, and set up ringers

SBSH iLauncher (my MUST HAVE program) too many settings to mention them all
Set up tabs : (iLauncher) and added programs/links [Tab- Program link]
  • Phone – send SMS, voice speed, place call
  • Apps (applications) – tasks, notes. Ppt, word, excel
  • A/V (audio/video) – photos,windows media player, video, microphone, camera
  • DB (databases)- ListPro, CodeWallet Pro 2006
  • Net-(internet)- activesync, ie explorer, flexmail 2007, Newsbreak, Windows Live Search, Opera, WL Messenger
  • Ref (reference)- adobe reader, Mobipocket reader. Laridian pocket Bible, Virtual Earth, Google maps
  • SYS (system)–meters (battery, SD card, memory) and soft reset
  • Main (maintenance) -memMaid, sktools, sprite backup
  • Tools- file txplorer, screen capture, calculator, backlight, sounds & notifications, rotate screen, search
  • G1 (games)-no games added (yet)
  • G2 (more games)-no games added (yet)

SBSH PocketBreeze -too many settings to mention them all
SBSH PocketWeather
I still need to setup mail (Flexmail 2007) and add games and themes :)
....then, I can play with GPS....and then figure out what I forgot!

There's a number of bad reviews on the AT&T wireless forum. Here's one:

Anyone else not feeling their Tilt? - AT&T/Cingular (HTC) - Wireless Forums from AT&T
