PTT button; Any Fix?
The PTT button is functionless for most of us; has anyone found a fix, yet?

I found this fix, and it works perfectly. I suggest using a Registry editor like Resco Registry to follow these instructions:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1577293&postcount="12

"Worked for me. You have to read the whole post.

For my own purposes as well, here are the consolidated steps to take. Until someone improves on this, I keep all this stuff in a directory so I can reconfigure my device as necessary. Here goes...

I think the trick is the PTT settings take precedence when the device boots up so delete the PTT registry settings under HKLM/Services/PTT. Delete the whole sub tree, then

From HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys

Add a new key called "40C6"
Add a string under the key called "Name" with the value "Button 6"

Add a new key called "40C7"
Add a string under this key called "Name" with the value "Button 6 (hold)"

(Note, do not enter the quotes, thare are to delimit what belongs in the registry entry)

Go to the Buttons settings and assign a program to the new entries. I di Voice Dial and Vibra (Switch) from the link earlier in the this post.

Do a soft reset which will remove the PTT settings from the buffer and enable your key changes."

I tried to do the reg edit. I removed the pPPT out of the services area and then added the 2 button lines in the keys, I even assigned the buttons. When I did a soft rest the buttons were gone out of the keys area.

Do you have to save the edit some how?
I am using PHM RegEdit does that make a difference?

Changing the PTT button is a easy as switching to the HTC rom..I did it, and the button was automatically remapped to the voice command. I switched it from the voice button to a 'hold to lock' button. Much better :-)

I did it using a desktop registry editor. You have to not only delete the existing key for PTT, you have to then create both keys 40C6 & 40C7.

Never used PHM reg edit. Before I hardbooted (bloat removal), I accomplished the reg edit using Resco Explorer. You can download a trial, and use it to make the change.

You may also have to power off your device using the power button. I read this also. After making your registry changes, press and hold your power button, cycle off. That should save the changes.

I followed these steps and it worked without any problems. I mapped it to be a voice recorder button. I then found out that the Tilt cannot record both sides of a phone conversation. I am disappointed and have not been able to find a solution. Re-mapped key to tweaks program.

3rd Party programs have some success. Resco Audio recorder, and Vito Audio notes are the two that come to mind. I know VITO works on my tilt.

I deleted the registry, added the two new ones, and soft reset. Worked perfectly.

Thanks!
